Christy Gonzales Homework 0 IFT-220 After examining the slides and watching the lecture videos of the slides/course material, I discovered that this course covers a wide range of IT work needs in a variety of IT jobs. When I was looking at the IT role that I am interested in, cyber security, on Indeed.com, I noticed that we would have to implement computer security and authentication. Course IFT 220 prepares students for a career in cyber security by teaching them how to manage users and computers on a network to ensure that the correct passwords are used and that only authorized individuals are logged into the computer or network. It also applies to cyber security obligations by having it implemented to report back to the main computer in order to inform the cyber security team of what is happening on the network and computer systems. 1 An IT Security Engineer role is another IT career that I am interested in that I found on Indeed.com and ziprecruiter.com that this course pertains to. While researching this position on the public city school website, I saw that one of the responsibilities is to manage and develop systems, apps, devices, and plans to keep the network and PCs secure from a breach. This job description also asking us to have a familiarity with VMs which we will be using a lot in this course Labs assignments. This job function also requires thorough knowledge of network protocols and architecture, which are both discussed in the course slides. 2 A web developer is one of the final IT careers mentioned in this course that I am interested in. It intrigued me that an active directory might be used in web development. While reading the description of the web development security requirements and the description of how an active directory is implemented and used, it became clear to me that many IT roles use the

same types of security measures that an active directory assists with, such as managing and authenticating client and server computers and keeping the computers' security and policies up to date. This job description also requires knowledge of how to implement plans and access management. In addition to installing websites for courses to function properly. Having the proper computer equipment would assist a web designer in organizing domains, sites, and so on. 3 The knowledge gained from this course will assist me in better understanding how to manage and obtain an efficient method of developing these requirements. I had no idea having an active directory would be so useful and resourceful. It's fascinating that it can accomplish so much and assist in so many various roles. I proceeded to research different IT job descriptions, and many of them rely on what an active directory does. I knew there were a lot of different IT professions, but after discovering how many different ones there are through the course presentations and through investigating on employment websites it made me realize that this course is going to be very beneficial in any role I decide to proceed with.
