What are the pros and cons of using a print server, and what are the pros and cons of using direct IP printing? (Internet research)
Print servers can handle more complex tasks, are easy for users, and are easy to set up and run. Creating a print server will initially occupy the IT team’s time, as well as costing money to maintain.
Direct IP printing gives the users more efficiency and uses less resources. Configuring drivers
for each user takes much more time to set up than a print server, and the lack of rules in printing can create issues.
Given what you have learned, how will you deploy the printers?
While initially a print server will be taxing for the limited-experience IT team, it will be easier for
them to manage long term. Easier administration and reliability will also be benefits the client will appreciate with a print server.
Which approach makes more sense for this scenario, and why?
A print server makes the most sense because of the client’s need for manageable tasks for their IT team, along with the scope of the company being more compatible with a print server versus direct IP printing. Setting up drivers for all employees would be too taxing for their staff.
