Report
Project One Allison R. Pfannenstiel Southern New Hampshire University CJ 350: Intel & Counterintelligence Devin Kerins February 2024
Project One Based on our study, Panama may represent a danger to the US like the 1962 Cuban missile crisis. This idea analyzes Cuba to better understand and govern Panama. Though no weapons were used, the Cuban Missile Crisis was an intelligence failure. The US struggled to identify the Soviet Union's relationship with Cuba and the quantity of missiles and ships. The situation involved intentional and accidental acts, overt and hidden communication, and misunderstandings. The Office of the Historian and other foreign policy groups were ignored as the White House and Kremlin prevailed. The US gained an advantage using IMINT, or signal and image intelligence. Cuban military strategy was communicated visually. The US used spy planes to improve missile information and monitor Soviet-Cuba relations. Wisdom allowed our nation to govern without guns. Cuba has no intention of keeping the weapons, data showed. Insufficient US preparation due to lack of understanding may have caused a nuclear confrontation. Panama is aligning with our interests, but few data and resources make it difficult to assess its danger. Drug trafficking between Panama and Colombia is cooperative. Illicit drug trafficking is growing in the US. The World Factbook reports that shipping containers are the main way illegal drugs are transported into the US, mostly cocaine. Knowing other nations' aims and intentions gives the US an edge in international intelligence. We would better recognize and prepare for dangers to our country and its people. Failure to obtain intelligence quickly might compromise national security. Our comprehension may also fail to grasp the present or future. We need credible and precise information to address Panama's partnership with Cuba. Political, diplomatic, economic, and military situations in Panama are crucial. This will expose Panama's problems. Their finances, assistance from other nations, military capabilities, political views, and threat should be investigated. Imaging intelligence may track their military position. Signal
intelligence can check missile capabilities. Search engines and newspapers are open-source intelligence. To learn more, we may hire Panamanian hidden operatives. We may combine all these tactics into one approach to reduce risk. By using many intelligence collecting methods, Panama's danger can be fully understood. We can obtain publicly available data, analyze their military capabilities, and find missile systems using a multidimensional technique. Panamanian covert agents can reveal human psychology in ways that other methods cannot. This variety of methods lets us efficiently address threats. To assess Panama's offensive capabilities, military strength and missile systems must be examined. Undercover operatives can also provide vital intelligence regarding their goals and techniques, improving our preparation.
