1. Technology had a significant influence on society and culture during the Middle Ages, and these factors also influenced how technology was developed. Medieval society and culture saw tremendous transformation because of technological breakthroughs . Technological Affects on Midevil arly Europen Culture Broedel’s stance is that the Medieval period started from 500CE and ended around 1400CE and produced insight on the European evolvement in the advance in technology. He provided historical information ranging explainin the affects from agriculture to military weaponry. As we take a peak into this Era in time, we must first analyze the improvement in population, harvest of crops, and the military technology. Medieval technology included castles, swords, armor, catapults and many more enovative weaponry. The Early Middle Ages consisted of the old Roman Empire recreating itself and developing new ways to improve quality of life and defense. Everything within that time frame was destroyed, then trying to rebuild its population and harvest yields. During the high middle ages consist of European culture continued to grow and branch out to other locations to discover wealth and bring it back. In that time frame, everyone was building wealth around them. According to Broedel, the late middle ages consisted of worsening positions for the Europeans due to a war that caused the population and harvest decreases. Later, the Roman Empire improved their agriculture by redeveloping the ard plough and improving into more modern heavy plows. Although it created more work for the servants, the plow enriched the profit of fertilization and harvest. The Europeans had a better understanding of their harvest verses the old Romans. As the Europeans continue to improve their farming skills and machinery. They learned the best way to harvest in different climates and crops in different seasons. According to Broedel, improving everything improved the European's harvest production and knowledge of agriculture. .
Ultimately, in the Renaissance era, the soldiers evolved to battle on horseback wearing heavy armor to protect them. They proved to be formable foe in battle. The soldiers were fierce when when fighting from a castle or on horseback. Both Aspects gave the military an advantage against their opponents. The first castles were constructed of wood and improved to stone as wealth increased in Europe. This improvement provide an empenitrible fortress in most cases during battle. Looking at that era of the military and comparing it to now, the machinery concepts are still the same, but the tactics and improvements in technology have changed. Currently, military forces utilize missile and drones versus the trebuchet (catapult). The tactics mideivel soldiers were to fight on horseback with heavy armor versus modern use the stealth technology based attacks by land, air, and sea.
