Discussion Prompt Two The healthcare industry is experiencing a shift; thus, healthcare facilities must adopt tools that will help deal with the present changes. Significant investments have been made in recent years to improve the quality of medical care and care delivery (Arnautova, 2018). The current healthcare trends significantly impact APN roles and the general nature of healthcare; for instance, they influence cost, mode of healthcare delivery, and efficiency. One of the significant trends is telemedicine, which involves offering medical care remotely. One can access a wide range of healthcare services through telemedicine. In contrast, healthcare professionals get the chance to address various problems that a patient may be facing with increased efficiency, reduced cost, and within a short period of time ( Frey & Chiu, 2021) . Clinicians and patients rely on telemedicine to get or offer prescriptions, offer therapy, review whether a patient needs treatment, and offer medical care. Through telemedicine, one can access primary care consultations, physical therapy, emergency services, and psychotherapy. Patients can use digital devices such as smartphones and computers to engage with their healthcare professionals through video conferencing, email, and even messaging. Research highlights various benefits associated with telemedicine for patients and caregivers ( Frey & Chiu, 2021) . For patients, costs are significantly lowered, considering that patients tend to spend less on care, and there is increased access to care considering the disabled and those living in rural regions. For patients that focus on getting preventive care, telemedicine has afforded them a unique opportunity to improve long-term care as they can get instant and regular support without visiting healthcare facilities.
Additionally, there is improved convenience and reduced rates of hospital-acquired infections. The main concerns with this trend include the inability to examine patients, licensing issues, technological concerns, and expense in some cases. Healthcare providers, especially APNs, are also influenced by this new trend considering that their roles are diversified. Regarding roles, APNs can rely on telemedicine to offer diverse forms of care without seeing the patient physically ( Frey & Chiu, 2021) . Through this approach, the health care providers can focus on the patient's overall care, where they not only review physical health but also focus on emotional, spiritual, and mental health. Healthcare professionals now have to adjust to offering remote care and synthesizing data to determine how best to shape the care they intend to offer. Reference Arnautova, Y. (2018).
