Review of Literature on Surgical Robotics
Surgical robotics is a cutting-edge field of medicine that combines the latest in engineering, computer science, and medicine to provide patients with minimally invasive, safer surgeries. These robotic systems are designed to assist surgeons in performing surgical procedures with greater accuracy and precision, enabling them to perform procedures that were once impossible. One of the major benefits of surgical robotics is the ability to perform minimally invasive surgeries. This is done by using small incisions rather than large ones, resulting in less trauma to the body and significantly less scarring. Additionally, this approach reduces the risk of infection and decreases recovery time for the patient. In addition to these benefits, surgical robotics also provides greater precision during procedures. This is achieved through the use of advanced imaging technology, which allows surgeons to see the surgical site in three dimensions. The robotic systems used in surgery often consist of a combination of cameras, robotic arms, and surgical instruments. These instruments are controlled by the surgeon, who sits at a console and manipulates the robotic arms using a joystick-like device. The cameras and instruments are inserted through small incisions, while the surgeon sits comfortably at the console. With a faster recovery time, patients are able to leave the hospital more quickly than they would with traditional open surgery. This reduction in time spent in the hospital translates into lower costs for patients and healthcare systems. Lastly, the use of surgical robots has led to higher patient satisfaction rates.
