Practice Exercise Journal: Mindful Meditation 1.
A summary of the activity from your point of view When doing these role-playing activities, I always find them quite funny to conduct. I typically have to utilize my husband for these types of activities, and he does not take them very seriously. However, I did complete the body scan exercise. When conducting the activity, I first read the document provided aloud so that we would both understand what we were doing. Then I liked using the video provided for the body scan instruction. This helped us both get into a better mindset for the activity as a whole. After which I conducted the body can with him as the instructor. 2.
Knowledge/insight you gained from completing the activity (This could be personal or professional knowledge/insight) I rather enjoyed the mindfulness of this activity. As someone who is chasing two kiddos 3 and under every day, plus school, work, and interning I seldom find them time to be more in tune with me thoughts and body. That
’
s not to say that I am not having thousands of thoughts day, I am simply not attentive to them. This was helpful to me personally to settle my mind, even it was only for a few minutes. 3.
What went well from your perspective? I think the preparation for the activity went well. I am sometimes an over-preparer when it comes to some things. I think that it was really useful in this situation so that I knew what I needed to do through the activity. 4.
What you might want to do differently if you could start again? Honestly, there is nothing I would do differently. I felt prepared and had a full understanding of the activity.

Describe the demographics of clients you believe this activity would be most useful/beneficial for (This could include setting for services, age, gender, presenting issue, diagnosis, ethnicity, faith/belief system etc.) Include several of these areas in your answer. I think that these types of mindfulness activities will work with most individuals. I do think teens and adults are better candidates to use these types of activities, simply because I do not think children will sit still long enough. I think presenting concerns that would benefit well would be those struggling with anxiety, it is an opportunity to calm the mind and body. Additionally, I think women are more inclined to participate in mindfulness than men this is just based on my use of my husband as my participate. Outside of these demographics I think most ethnicities, faith/belief systems, etc. can benefit from mindfulness.
