Qn1
: Involving families in educational programs to prevent communicable illnesses is important
for several reasons. Firstly, it helps to spread information and promote a collective understanding
of preventive measures within the community. Secondly, involving families helps to ensure that
children's needs are met, and parents' concerns are addressed. Also, incorporating families in
educational programs creates a support network that encourages compliance with preventive
measures, reducing the transmission and prevalence of communicable diseases. The short
YouTube video "
What to Do if You Have Scabies"
is the most relevant. Including families in
education programs and sharing such information can be crucial in reducing the spread of such
infectious diseases.
Qn2:
Several factors may contribute to the increased prevalence of childhood allergies and
asthma. Environmental influences, such as exposure to indoor and outdoor allergens, can trigger
allergic reactions and exacerbate asthmatic symptoms (Searing & Leung, 2010). Additionally,
lifestyle changes, including reduced physical activity, which leads to obesity and overweight,
dietary modifications, and increased exposure to pollutants, may contribute to the development
and exacerbation of these conditions (Sbihi & Allen, 2019). The information about the causes of
asthma has improved my preparedness for providing care to a child suffering from the disease.
First, I would ensure the child's environment is free from allergens that can trigger asthma
attacks. Second, I would administer medications for managing the disease, such as using inhalers
and nebulizers.
Qn3:
The concept of excessive fatigue in children caused by specific factors such as delayed
bedtimes, recovery from a recent illness, and sleep deprivation is a crucial new knowledge that I
find relevant to share with other early childhood professionals (p. 98 – 99). "Sleep deprivation
has been closely linked to a variety of learning problems, health conditions (obesity, heart
disease, cancer), and unintentional injury (p. 99)." This sentence is relevant to the concept and
the need to share it to ensure early childhood professionals provide proper care to children.
Qn4:
As an aspiring early childhood professional, do you consider excessive fatigue in children
normal? What are some causes of excessive fatigue in children, and what are some measures that
you can take to prevent this issue?
