Hs 461 assignment 6.4.
November 8, 2023
What are the positives in this scenario? What are the negatives?
Discuss.
The positives in this scenario are that Jesus is doing good in school and
staying very involved in sports. He’s doing positive things with the school
and his sports.
The negatives are that his parents do not support him in what he is doing
with his life. Even if they are worried about his healthy habits that he is
developing they should still go to his sports games and support him and
show him that they are going to be there for him no matter what. Another
negative is the health habits that Jesus is picking up because of wrestling.
He isn’t taking care of his body and he is still young and still growing and
having health habits like eating and sleeping good are extra important for
children. His anger issues and depression could kick him into to very bad
eating habits. He is already acting suspicious when asked about if he is
puking after he eats.
What are your first concerns? In what order would you address these
concerns? How would you begin to address these concerns?
My first concerns are that he already has an alter in his stomach and he is
still a child. And he isn’t following any guidelines when it comes to taking
care of his health. And he may also have an eating disorder with the
outbursts and going off when he asked about it. The first thing I would do
would be to ask him to explain to me why he thinks he is here? Then we
would go over the health concerns and about his alter and what needs to
be done about it. I would also get him into individual therapy as well as
family therapy.
Are there services or community resources that would be supportive
of this situation where you live?
Yes there are mentoring programs where young children can shadow an
older person who have been in situations similar to them and they help the
younger child figure out healthy ways to deal with it and get away from it.
Are there any ethnic/cultural/ethical considerations that seem
relevant? Discuss why or why not.

Hs 461 assignment 6.4.

The cultural issues and ethnic issue may be that Jesus parents might think
they are doing the right thing by not being there for him on his games and
sports because they want him to be more involved with the church. But
instead of just abandoning him. They should do positive things to get him
back involved with them and the church instead of something negative.
Write 5 open-ended questions that you would ask in this situation.
Who would you address these questions to? (You can address these
questions to more than one person in the scenario if applicable.)
1.
What are some reasons you believe that you are here with me
today?
2.
What kind of diets do you do when you need to make weight for
wrestling?
3.
How does it make you feel when your parents don’t come to your
games?
4.
How do you feel that your parents view you?
5.
What are some goals that you would like to set and start working on
while you are working with me? (All questions to Jesus)
Identify any possible transference/countertransference issues that
you might deal with in this situation.
Some transference that could happen when working with Jesus could be
him shutting down and not speaking to me and treating me like he treats
his parents
or has the attitude towards me that he has for them.
And the
countertransference could be self-getting to attached to Jesus as if he was
one of my children and it would cloud my judgement and advice.
