Some of the OR nurses had also observed throughout the previous six to twelve months that Dr. Johnson's patients had been prescribed morphine for pain, and that Dr. Johnson would personally administer this drug, even to those who weren't complaining of discomfort. After allegedly getting morphine from Dr. Johnson, some of the patients who were in severe pain reported no alleviation from their symptoms. 2. I believe that Community Hospital of the West is somewhat to blame for Dr. Johnson's situation. The facility did not have a system in place for reporting the alleged abuse in confidence. One of the nurses was immediately fired after bringing Dr. Johnson's abnormalities to their attention. Additionally, there ought to have been more oversight when Dr. Johnson was giving the patients morphine, particularly in light of the fact that several patients continued to complain of pain even after apparently getting morphine. 3. The scenario has a few underlying reasons. Some of these reasons include: a lack of systemic responsibility, a lack of communication, the staff's failure to act on reports of Dr. Johnson, easy access to medicines with no tracking, and no mechanism to report confidentially. 4. If a healthcare business has a positive reputation, it will draw more clients and patients to its hospital. Patients will be less hesitant to visit this organization as a result of Dr. Johnson's condition because of his narcotics issue. Dr. Johnson did not properly care for the patients in terms of patient safety. The provision of high-quality healthcare services depends on patient safety. A focus on patient safety is important because it protects patients and fosters an environment where better treatment may be provided. A company's ability to market effectively for the healthcare industry matters and has an impact. Successful patient involvement results from effective marketing, and a successful practice will thrive as a result. The existence of a positive organizational culture is crucial for a healthcare institution. A healthcare organization must have positive patient outcomes, which might result from this. In order for the staff at Community Hospital of the West to recognize signs of addiction and know what to do when they suspect a coworker is struggling with it, I would advise the
organization to train its personnel in this area. In order to uncover any issues the doctors are having and give management time to find a solution, a monthly meeting could also be beneficial.
