Instructions: Before completing the exercises, review the following: Read: Kinn’s The Medical Assistant, Chapter 11: Daily Operations and Safety Scenario 1: Perform an Equipment Inventory with Documentation (Procedure 11.1) Tasks: Pick a room in your house, clinic or school and perform an equipment inventory. Document the inventory on the equipment inventory form. Submit the completed form, Work Product 11.1 Equipment Inventory Form with the Assignment. Answer the following questions. 1. Look at the provided sample Inventory sheet. What specific room/area of the clinic do you think this is for? Why is that? Without the actual sample inventory sheet, it's difficult to determine the specific room/area of the clinic it's for. However, you can make an educated guess based on the types of equipment listed. For example, if the inventory includes items like stethoscopes, blood pressure monitors, and examination tables, it's likely for an examination room 2. Why do equipment inventories need to be done on a schedule? What happens after an inventory finds something needs ordered? Describe each step of the process from discovery of low stock to when the order is placed back on the shelf. How many people could that involve? Equipment inventories must be done on a schedule to stay up to date with the equipment and to make sure that there is a consistent number of supplies always in demand in the office 3. Proper posture is important for staying injury-free in the workplace. What kinds of injuries can occur from improper posture? Back pain, spinal dysfunction, and joint degeneration 4. Use the Work Product 11.4 form to conduct an inspection of the room you inventoried earlier. Complete the form and submit to your Instructor with the Assignment. Answer the following questions. 1. A Crash Cart (pictured below) must be maintained well, or it can quickly become a hazard. List 2 reasons why the equipment must be inventoried and 2 issues that can happen if inventory is not maintained. one reason why the equipment must be inventoried is to make sure all things are in good working and it’s likely that some components or pieces are missing from or malfunctioning in the cart if it isn’t inventoried. lack of inventory maintenance may result in wasteful wastage of materials and resources. supplies that are not being used might accumulate in crash carts costing the hospital money 2. What clues do you see on the medications below that can help in inventory? What types of information should be collected from medications?
