Background
B
While work is an essential component in individuals’ daily lives, it can result in anxiety, stress, and professional burnout, contributing to mental health conditions, including depression. According to De Hert (2020), burnout is broadly associated with negative implications for healthcare providers' well-being and capacity to provide quality care. It can lower their effectiveness and performance levels and result in adverse patient outcomes. In most profound cases, it is aligned with a reduced sense of individual achievement, depersonalization, and emotional exhaustion (Othman et al., 2023). Research reveals that mindfulness-based interventions have proven effective in increasing confidence levels and reducing depersonalization and emotional exhaustion among healthcare professionals (Salvado et al., 2021). As such, such initiatives can be considered to address burnout concerns and improve the quality of care.
Situation
S
Burnout is a significant concern among healthcare providers. It is work-related distress that occurs when healthcare providers are exposed to high job stress levels. This issue is crucial at our organization, warranting a change strategy to minimize stress among healthcare professionals and improve healthcare outcomes.

Recommendation
R
A recommended approach toward the intervention is to consider a multifaceted approach during implementation. Firstly, the healthcare organization can conduct a pilot study in a single medical department incorporating meditation and yoga practices to assess its efficacy through participant feedback. There is also a need to educate healthcare professionals regarding mindfulness-based programs and integrate such practices into routine activities. An assessment can be obtained by evaluating the programs' impact on stress, anxiety, job retention, and emotional distress among healthcare professionals within the department. If the outcomes are positive, the intervention can be implemented in other departments within the healthcare organization.
Assessment
A
A recent survey conducted at our organization indicated a high level of burnout among physicians and nurses occurring due to increased stress, anxiety, emotional exhaustion, and reduced personal achievement. Moreover, the organization experienced high turnover rates and increased sick leave, demonstrating a burnout concern among healthcare professionals, particularly nurses and physicians. Therefore, the recommended intervention involving a mindfulness-based program should target physicians and nurses in the healthcare facility to lower anxiety, stress, and emotional exhaustion. Fostering a healthy working environment and ensuring a supporting work culture will reduce turnover and absenteeism rates and enhance job retention.
