Exercise 8
March 29, 2023
Part 1:
1.
The 6 countries are: Kittitas, Yakima, Lewis, Thorston, Pierce and King. The 8 hospitals are: St. Clare Hospitals, Multicare Good Samaritan Hospital, Multicare Allenmore, St. Joseph Medical Center, Multicare Tacoma General Hospital, Multicare Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital and Health Center, St. Elizabeth Hospital and Morton General Hospital.
2.
We did a selection by selection> select by location> target layer>WA_Rivers. Spatial selection method for target location> are within a distance of the source layer feature> 20
km.
3.
There are 15 rivers within 20 km of Mount Rainier's Summit. They are: White River, Puyallup River, Carbon River, Clearwater River, West Fork White River, Mowick River, North Mowick River, South Mowich River, North Puyallup River, South Puyallup River, Nisqually River, Paradise River, Naches River, Ohanapecosh River, and Muddy Fork Coaslite River.
4.
2353 square kilometers of area is surrounding Mt. Rainier that are in the hazard zone for larger lahars.
5.
Only the Multicare Good Samaritan Hospital is the only hospital that falls within the hazard zone. The largest city in the lahar hazard zone is Puyallup. The total number of people within the Lahar hazard zone is 61, 217.
6.
314.16 square kilometers are the hazard zones for the small and large tephra.
7.
There are 40 hospitals and 135 cities within 100 km of Mt. Rainier. The largest city is White Swan within 100km and the total number of people within the 1000 km is 2,337,309.

This map shows the Empirical Bayesian kriging (EBK) is a geostatistical interpolation method that automates the most difficult aspects of building a valid kriging model
. The map shows real and synthetic drill holes for Lisbon Utah, mapping their frequencies and any potential subsurface
faults. The map shows the high and low points of three separate sections. It is missing some information that is necessary for a map, such as a title or an arrow bar. The elevation data could align more closely with the other data.
10.
The LV layer is more accurate as it maps out the fault lines in a more accurate way because it takes the Faultline boundaries into account whereas the EBK layer appears overly smoothed which is somewhat unrealistic.

High ozone projections and high concentrations do not significantly correlate. The borders of the
maps have ozone clusters, but there are also clusters near significant red patches. Just by looking
at the map, it appears that the southwest border has the biggest concentration overall. On the east side of the map we are looking at, there are no clusters.
13.
14. I discovered a link in the error distribution among the major cities that are home to the concentrated city locations where ozone measurements are being taken. The broader the circles are and the further they are from the city data points, the higher the amount of inaccuracy also is. This made visual sense since the farther you are from the cities, the more levels of inaccuracy GIS must assume.
