Please click on the assignment, review the originality report by clicking on the colored Turnitin flag, and then address the following questions: 1. Expand the red similarity layer and explore each highlighted instance. What is the percent of your paper taken from an outside source? Is this rate acceptable in your opinion? Why or why not? 2. Click on the purple grammar tools layer. What type of corrections did you receive? Are there any that are confusing or with which you disagree? 3. How do you think instructors should use Turnitin? How do you think students should use Turnitin? Here, consider if students should be able view originality reports before or after the due date, the interpretation of the originality report, etc. Do you generally trust online grammar tools? 3/14/24, 4:15 PM Topic: Week 6 Discussion https://northeastern.instructure.com/courses/125723/discussion_topics/1681494 2/21 Tavleen Kaur Walia (https://northeastern.instructure.com/courses/125723/users/202808) Oct 25, 2022 This exercise to assess the similarity report of the previously submitted summary paper made me critically analyse my summarizing and paraphrasing s Edited by Tavleen Kaur Walia (https://northeastern.instructure.com/courses/125723/users/202808) on Oct 26, 2022 at 10:31am Reply Attach This exercise to assess the similarity report of the previously submitted summary paper made me critically analyse my summarizing and paraphrasing skills. Reading the red similarity layer, I realised that there were sometimes where proper paraphrasing was not implemented which resulted in direct copy- pasting of partial sentences. While writing, I was under the impression that partial sentence modulation can result in good paraphrasing and the rest can be summarised through ones own words, however, the key to paraphrasing lies in the power of expressing in one's own words with a directive intention which includes linking of outside sources with original source to emphasize or validate a point. For instance, the sentence from the conclusion paragraph, " the paper emerged from two discussions: the definition of project success and whether or not public projects are successful. It contributes to the same two discussions by proposing a holistic evaluation framework and demonstrating the multifaceted nature of project success." This consists of various direct phrases from the original source. A better way to better phrase would have been as follows: The research is based over two pivots i.e. what defines project success and what contributes to its success. The paper over all presents a holistic evaluation over the framework demonstrating the various reasons to project success. Overall the similarity report indicated 26% match to the sources namely the original source (20%), Northeastern student paper (5%) and other internet sources (1%). This also included the introductory headings, institution and course name. Probably, quotations bibliography and references were filtered out from the professor's end to eliminate confusions. The percentage, moreover, is not so acceptable in this case as the reasonable limit is 24%. It is an amazing tool for both instructors and students as it might just sound like a similarity detector, however, it also acts as a tool for everyone to analyse where one is going wrong and to determine areas to improve. The similarity detected by Turnitin indicates positively that the author has used authentic sources to validate all the points whatsoever, if the author borrows a large number of exact same words from the source, it indicates as a negative sign about improper paraphrasing or summarizing (Turnitin LLC, 2021). Hence to conclude it is important to have a certain percentage of similarity as it is expected, plus validate reflection. Additionally it's equally important to be under the limits of a reasonable similarity score. Therefore, its suggestive to allow students to go through turnitin reports before submission because once the assignment is marked few care to make alterations just for self-improvement. The percentage dropped to 6% after using the filter and eliminating quotes and bibliography, but it still counted the subject, date, and professor's name from the cover page as plagiarized content. Additionally, it listed the author's name as a plagiarized. Excluding it, the percentage of paper taken from an outside source is 2%. The highlighted areas on the first page are the author's name and the title of the article I mentioned , "Volden, G. and Welde, M.’s article on, 'Public project success? Measuring the nuances of success through ex post evaluation.'" Given that we are not allowed to paraphrase an article's title, it should be permissible. Furthermore, the highlighted passage on the second page is genuine since I used terms and sentence structures that were close to those in the original, "Thus, the next generation of emergency networking systems is currently being developed and will be based on commercial networks as opposed to being a unique system made for the emergency services." Thus, I need to paraphrase that sentence more appropriately, such as "As a result, rather than being a special system created for the emergency services, the next generation of emergency networking systems is now being developed and will be built on commercial networks." For the last page, the plagiarized text highlighted, was the reference page and the references I used for the paper. Similar to the cover page, the reference page's information cannot be paraphrased because it includes the title of the article and its author. In my opinion, this rate should be acceptable as plagiarized content below 15% is acceptable. According to Kasen (2021), "The widely accepted Turnitin rate is 15% or lower. However, because plagiarism regulations differ amongst universities, there is no similarity score that can be used globally. Anything over 20% is simply too much plagiarism and exhibits a lot of copying, regardless of the accepted score. " It should be remembered, though, that the text that is marked as copied shouldn't be a straight copy and paste from the original. It should be paraphrased. I did not receive any suggestions from the purple grammar tool. I believe instructors should use Turnitin to ensure that the work supplied by students is original. The student's work should be checked for originality before the deadline so that they can be guided if more than 15% of it is plagiarized. Students should use Turnitin to check their writing in the meantime to see if it contains any plagiarism. Students may or may not intentionally replicate another person's work, but it nonetheless may correspond to an external source. Students, in my opinion, should be able to use a plagiarism checker and examine the originality report before the due dates, because it is likely that what they have written may be similar to someone else's work even if they did not plan to. The learner will be assisted in reviewing and comparing their work in these situations by the originality checker. Online grammar tools are improving steadily thanks to advances in artificial intelligence (AI). Grammar checkers that employ AI to find errors in writing are more efficient than manual proofreading. It provides insights into the reasons for errors as well as suggestions for improvements. To improve the coherence and cohesion of one's projects, one should enlist their assistance. Additionally, I found similarity reports and a percent Reply Attach While reviewing the originality report of my assignment submitted last week, I found the color green. Additionally, I found similarity reports and a percentage of 22 was acceptable. As per Turnitin report, 22 percent of paper was taken from an outside source. According to Onler (2018), Anything under 25 percent is acceptable. Moreover, a similarity of more than 25% is regarded as a high percentage of plagiarism and, it is difficult to paraphrase each line with different words. I discovered a red report of 14 percent that contained 7-8 words that were like those in the publication of the study by Volden and Welde (2022). Additionally, I discovered that 5 percent of the purple highlighted text is unacceptable because they were merely arbitrary phrases taken from the newspaper and paraphrasing was done correctly. There were no such corrections mentioned on my similarity report as it is well under the limit of Turnitin. Turnitin instructors must allow their students time to plan their discussions far in advance so that they do not have to scramble to complete their projects on time. Additionally, instructors should not grade their students based on Turnitin reports. Additionally, teachers should set up webinars and sessions so that students may learn about this tool and how it functions. Before deadlines, students must be given access to their Turnitin reports so they can correct any work that has been plagiarized and learn from their mistakes. Students should consult their advisors and teachers if any text in their reports is incorrectly highlighted. Online grammar tools, in my opinion, are beneficial since they make it simple for pupils to paraphrase, and they also typically reduce grammatical errors. For instance, you may easily copy and paste your writing into an online grammar checker to get feedback. Reference Onler, E. (2018). The fact that I paraphrased the entire article but utilized the original language for the headings and a few grammatical errors was alarming to me. Turnitin highlighted specific terms, and the similarity index rose to 61%. This percentage is unacceptable, as students should correctly credit their sources, summarise critical passages, and use their own words while writing. The institution will determine the proportion they wish to set for the similarity index. I selected the purple grammar tool, which displayed a list of corrections that needed to be made. The first was a proofreading error in the grammar section. However, there were no spelling errors in the summary writing. I would take issue with the proofread portion of the one correction. Because I always check my work using Microsoft Word, Grammarly, and any other website on the internet before turning it in and submitting each project. Even still, the proofreading problem is strange because teachers should use Turnitin to encourage students, particularly international students, never to plagiarise and to write all of their original work. When using Turnitin, students should be aware of the unintentional crime they commit by copying and pasting other people's work. Even if they correctly cite it, it is immoral to replicate someone else's work. Students would greatly benefit from having access to the originality report before or after the due date. Online grammar tools are the ideal writing aid for individuals whose first language is not English and for professionals and students. It aids in removing typical grammatical and punctuation problems. However, it can only partially replace human proofreaders. Sahu et al. (2020) evaluated the performance of the top five grammar-checking applications, and all the applications specifically failed to spot grammatical mistakes. From the consumers' point of view, this experiment demonstrates that one can only partially rely on these applications to detect and repair language faults. From the developer's point of view, this experiment has proven to be beneficial because it makes it simple for them to pinpoint the areas in which these apps need to be improved. Moreover, it dropped to 36% after quotes and bibliography. How Reply Attach The Summery paper assignment I submitted last week received 41% plagiarism. Moreover, it dropped to 36% after quotes and bibliography. However, it still considered the subject, date, and name of professor from the covered page. The plagiarism further dropped to 30% when title page is excluded from total plagiarism percentage. The majority of highlighted areas were taken from the research paper as it is not properly paraphrased or taken directly from the paper. However, this shouldn’t be that strict as considering we have to write summery paper based on research paper only, there should be some exemptions. In addition to that, name of authors and organizations were also considered as plagiarism which should not be the case as it must be allowed. Furthermore, the information on the reference page, like the cover page, cannot be paraphrased because it contains the article's title and author. According to (peachyessay, 2022), “Anything that falls below 25% is allowed when using Turnitin to check the level of plagiarism used.” Therefore, considering my case, there is a minor breach in the plagiarism. However, if we remove the name of authors and organizations, the plagiarism will definitely fall under 25% so it should be acceptable. Moreover, in terms of grammar corrections, I did not receive any purple grammar tool layer. Turnitin should be used by teachers, in my opinion, to check that students' work is original. Before the deadline, the student's work should be checked for originality so they can be directed by the tutors if more than 25% of it is plagiarized. In the interim, students should use Turnitin to check for plagiarism in their writing. As Students' work may or may not be copied with intent, but it may still be related to an external source. That’s why, I think that students should be able to use a plagiarism checker and look at the originality report before the due dates because, even if they didn't intend to, what they wrote may be similar to someone else's. The originality checker will help the student review and compare their work in these situations. Thanks to developments in artificial intelligence (AI), online grammar tools are consistently getting better. Compared to manual proofreading, grammar checkers that utilize AI to identify writing errors are more effective. It offers suggestions for improvement as well as insights into the causes of errors. One ought to solicit their assistance in order to enhance the cohesiveness and coherence of their projects. References peachyessay. (2022, March 9). After applying the filter and removing the quotes and cita Reply Attach 30% of the summary essay of Volden and Welde I turned in last week was plagiarised. After applying the filter and removing the quotes and citations, the proportion fell to 16%, but it continued to count the subject, date, and professor's name from the cover page as pirated information. First of all, article name and author name had been plagiarised. Then after some sentences were found as red because those sentences were taken from the article although I had paraphrased in my own words. No sentences were directly taken from any source. Furthermore, in the third paragraph, same plagiarism occurred. Now I am thinking that I need to be more careful about paraphrasing the words and recheck after writing. And at the end paragraph of references which was missed for that I got the comment. This 30% rate is in warning phase is like I have to be conscious using out sources. Apart from this red similarity, there was only 3% similarity of internet sources. This rate is acceptable because at some extent, some words can be traced by internet. Every university and colleges have own plagiarism criteria that below that percentage is acceptable and beyond that is not. According to Wilson Mizner, it is plagiarism if you take something from just one author; If you take from a lot of people, it's research. Anything that falls below 25% is allowed while using Turnitin to check the level of plagiarism used. The lower the similarity, the safer one’s work is. To avoid being caught up with plagiarism, work should be well referenced, and every quote acknowledged. (Peachyessay, 2022) I firmly believe that every professor must use of Turnitin because it assists to them that students have worked genuinely in a matter of second. On the other side, students should have use it because at least they can know that they are using someone’s content and can not use it directly. I think at some extent we need some grammar checker for assignment because it can easily detect mistakes which might not be caught by human. Also, it can save a lot of time if the assignments are too long. It can also fix the cohesion & coherence of the sentences and make it good while reading. Reference Peachy essay LLC (2022). Nine% of them come from the title page and references. Two% Reply Attach Hello everyone, The percentage of original papers I got from external sources was 11%. Nine% of them come from the title page and references. Two% is the repetition of words. I think this ratio is not very reasonable. This is because the citations in the main text are the main topic of this report. The title of the page comes from the format requirements, and the reference materials are in APA. The title page and reference page should not be counted in percentage, so I can not accept this percentage. In my originality report, the purple grammar tool layer is not visible, so I could not find the corresponding corrections. Judging from the results of the report, I think there are no major grammatical errors in my article. I will also try to avoid grammatical errors by double-checking the grammar issues of my essay before submitting future assignments. The original report aims to let students know the problems in the paper and correct them. These errors include resource references and grammar corrections. For this reason, I think the original report should be checked before the deadline. This will not only improve students' ability to self-correction and criticism but also improve the overall quality of their homework. After every assignment, I will use the online grammar tool to revise the article twice. Google has given me many suggestions, and I choose the most appropriate phrases for my article according to these suggestions, which is accurate and convenient. Best Regards, Xiao Cancel Post Reply

I often u Reply Attach I received a Turnitin score of 45% overall after considering the essay we had produced for our previous summary of Volden and Welde (2022). I often use Turnitin every time before submitting an article to check for accidental plagiarism. Therefore, the summary for this last week showed me 15% as specified before submitting, which was acceptable, but I suppose once all the students had turned in their papers, it went up to 45%, which I saw after it had been marked. Well, to comprehend this, I went and looked at the sections, and I saw that 34% of them are primarily headlines, frequent phrases, or sentences that were taken directly from the text. There may be similarities because each student must summarise the same article, but I believe that should be acceptable. Second, even though I didn't make any modifications when I went to the purple section that displays the grammar tools layers, it still displayed the publication source. The suggestion was essentially the same thing said in a different way with the same intended meaning. I would like to learn more about this and utilise it in future assignments, despite the fact that it was unclear how this purple helps. Turnitin is a great tool for professors and students alike, however, it may also present a distinct viewpoint that is incorrect for both parties. For example, suppose I had written an article and the outcome was different from when I submitted it; by the time the instructor checked Turnitin, the score would have increased as a result of taking into account previous or present student papers. This is not accessible to any student but only to authorized people, I guess to check other student papers. Overall, from the viewpoint of a teacher, it is helpful to recognise the students who have put effort into their essays without taking into account the proportion of headings, quotes, and common phrases or sentences. This is to determine if the article is the same for all of the students. It is better for us to check as students to ensure that there are no plagiarism issues. The original report should be accessible to students both before and beyond the required date since doing so enables them to assess their own performance as well as that of other students. Although we are unsure if Turnitin keeps a database of former students, there were more commonalities. It should be brief and addressed specifically to the students in that intake or batch. There will then be a hold and easy access for the instructors. At South Coast University, research was conducted with seven lecturers from various disciplines. Turnitin helps in identifying passages where text matches from other sources, according to the findings, which are summarised as follows. The software does not, however, show whether or not there has been plagiarism. The teacher's decision in that matter still stands (Sutherland et al.,2005). Although there are several online grammar tools, they all merely use artificial intelligence to analyse the words surrounding the sentence and provide you with predictions. Despite using Grammarly, I've grown accustomed to it. The bot occasionally misunderstands what I'm attempting to write, even though there are a few recommendations that I choose to reject. Overall, it is pretty helpful to have my spacing and punctuation fixed. I suggest using grammar checkers online sparingly at first because with practice you will improve. What is the percentage of your paper taken from an outside source? Is this rate acceptable in your opinion? Why or why not? Answer:- Turnitin report shows that 19 % of written content is similar to outside sources. According to me, It could be under 10 % because I used a few similar sentence structures. But, I used some of the words which are technical terms in the paper and thought that technical terms cannot be changed. Unfortunately, the Turnitin report shows plagiarized content. I will be careful with this in the next assignment. Also, most of the title page's content would be similar to previous assignments and with other students. If we don’t count the title page in the red highlighted layer, the percentage might decrease accordingly. 2. Click on the purple grammar tools layer. What type of corrections did you receive? Are there any that are confusing or with which you disagree? Answer:- I did not receive any grammatical corrections in the purple highlighted layer. But, there is some part of references in purple. That is confusing for me. I don’t understand the interpretation of the report. 3. How do you think instructors should use Turnitin? How do you think students should use Turnitin? Here, consider if students should be able to view originality reports before or after the due date, the interpretation of the originality report, etc. Do you generally trust online grammar tools? Why or why not? Answer:- As North American academic structure and plagiarism checking is very new for me, I might not be good enough to give my proper opinion to the instructor on this question. But, after getting the report and grades, the instructor can arrange one-to-one discussions on the Turnitin report because sometimes students could not find a way to improve particular errors in analysis. There will be chances of repetition of an error in the next assignment. Yes, Students should have used the Turnitin report to maintain the originality of their work while drafting the paper. By doing this, they can get an idea about the area of improvement. Yes, I trust online grammar tools for writing. As English was not my first language for communication in past, I am not that used to it. I used ‘Grammarly’ to improve my writing for punctuation marks, spelling, and grammatical errors. Eventually, I got improvement in writing. Also, I observe that grammatical errors have been reduced. Also, Proofreading is very difficult for me as I don’t have deep knowledge of English grammar and it became tedious too for human proofreaders like teachers or experts for each written work. Therefore, online tools like Grammarly help in mistake-free writing with proper instruction (Brown, 2021). References Brown, B. (2021, July 27). Grammarly Review (2022): Is Grammarly Worth It? What I have understood is that in my summary article assignment Turnitin report is showing 41 percent matching content from the external sources. I don't think this percentage is acceptable but this is the first time in my assignment it is more than 10 %. According to an online article by Kasen (2021), only 20% of similarity is overall acceptable, not more than it. I have some other issues which are responsible for this much of the percentage in the report. It can be accepted as this is the first time I am getting this much similarity in my content because I was not feeling well and for some personal reason as it is a festival season in India on the occasion of Diwali and I was missing my family. I cannot focus on my assignment, there is a similarity in my work because I did not paraphrase the content well enough. I am aware of each point and what should I do to avoid plagiarism, if there is a complete match I should use quotations to determine the line that is an exact match. I should use inline citations in the reference lines even if I paraphrase because that work belongs to another author. I have used inline citations in my assignment. I did not well paraphrase my work which is the reason It is showing similarities in the assignment. I need to paraphrase the sentences completely. I don't get enough time to read and think about the passage in all aspects as per the reasons I have mentioned above. Also, the main article was 12 pages long, which is complicated to summarize in 500 words only. In my report it is not showing a purple grammar tab, I am assuming that there are no grammar mistakes in my submission. It is not showing any corrections for grammar, I cannot answer this question because of it. Any suggestions are always welcome, it helps me improve my English skills. I think every instructor should use the Turnitin tool to check the similarities in the assignment. In my opinion, Turnitin is the best tool which is comparing the match from worldwide data, so there is no scope that any student can copy the content. I do think that there should be an option that a student can check the originality report of his work before the due date. There are similarities in my previous assignment which were unintentional. I did not find any free tool so that I can check my Turnitin report before the assignment submission. There should be a facility to check the report before the final submission so that any student can correct his work. I was also doubtful about whether I can resubmit my assignment again before the due that and also that can I resubmit my assignment just by changing the lines which are showing in red or if I need to change every line of my submission. I believe that online grammar-checking tools work great, as they have a vast database of English scholars, and online tools are made in collaboration with a team of hundreds of English professors. Any one person cannot find such mistakes in such a large quantity. Online tools are really helpful in educational as well as professional fields for any user. Reference Kasen, J. (2021, September 6). Regarding of 27% red similarity layer, this article has been summarized and it was not possible to change some parts; as an illustration, it is important to directly write the main question to respect the author’s rights. Furthermore, I agree with the similarity layer to some extent about the red similarity layer; moreover, the writing directly from a source must be quoted (American Psychological Associated, 2022). The purple similarity layer is related to the student paper and it shows 9% similarity; moreover, it can be seen that the same words, which have been used on paper, are important to write as original words. I do not agree to some extent with the purple similarity layer, as was mentioned earlier, it is not possible to paraphrase some parts, in my opinion, evaluating the text by Turnitin is not completely acceptable. It is better to use Turnitin for the evaluation of the primary check; furthermore, instructors can review the highlighted similarity layers, they should give feedback to students because the grammar checker does not have this ability. These tools also have some limitations in terms of their capacity to recognize and improve all aspects of writing. As a result, teachers and students should be aware of tool limitations (Perdana and Farida, 2019). Grammar tools can be helpful to increase the confidence of the students and it is useful to save time writing (Cavaleri, 2016). In my opinion, relying on the result of the app is not an appropriate approach; therefore, students should rely on their own knowledge and use this app as a complementary. This week, we’re supposed to address last week’s summary paper and it’s Turnitin originality report. I would like to start by stating that last week’s paper, Volden and Welde (2022) was a revealing reading experience for a newbie like me who is rather new to project management practices. It allowed me to learn through examples, and also through some well-explained terminologies. However, let’s steer our discussion toward the Turnitin report, as in the following paragraphs, I will explore the questions of the discussion board. 1. Upon examining the similarity layer in my report, I came to acknowledge that there were five total sentences, or parts of sentences (10% of the total 12%)that fell under the plagiarism category. However, two of these matches are the same, but from different online sources/academic sources; which leaves us with four matches. Out of the said four matches, two are reference list entries. One is the name of an organisation (the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development), and the other one includes technical terms such as, “iron triangle” as well as “cost, schedule, and quality”. Both of which cannot be changed. Nonetheless, I believe that the rate is acceptable as it justifiably matches the data from a wider academic database. It is a computer function and there can’t much debate in this case. 2. By observing the purple layer highlighted by the grammar tool, I came to notice that technically I didn’t have any grammatical errors. The errors that the Turnitin report identified were my surname (Jariwala), and combination of certain words in the title page, e.g. College of Professional Studies, Northeastern University, Toronto Campus. Once again, this is a computer identifying technical grammar mistakes, so I don’t have much issues. 3. I think that Turnitin can be a useful resource for easily identifying plagiarism and grammatical errors by instructors as it practically eliminates the need of assessments for each individual student’s submission. However, as it is a computerized system made to work on predetermined algorithms, it cannot accurately predict the levels of plagiarism or grammatical mistakes all the time. So, it should be taken with a pinch of salt by the faculties as it may lead to unjustified penalties for students. As for the students themselves, I believe being able to use Turnitin before the due dates would be more practical as the students can actually identify their mistakes and correct them in time. It can help students to not make similar mistakes in future assignments, and make sure that every student writes original content of their own. However, as far as trusting these online grammar and plagiarism-checking websites, I have mixed opinions. Most of the time, these websites do help students improve their language proficiency, but a lot of times, these websites turn out to be inefficient in detecting certain structural errors (Perdana & Farida, 2019). Depending on how much matched or similar text was found, the report icon's colour represents the paper's similarity score. The range of percentages is 0% to 100%. These are the potential similarity ranges: 1. Blue:- No matching text 2. Green :- 1 to 24 % matching text 3. Yellow :- 25 to 49% matching text 4. Orange :- 50 to 74 % matching text and last and 5 one is red :- 75 to 100 % matching text (Interpreting the Similarity Report, n.d.). My score for the assessment I sent in last week was 9%, falling inside the green category. I read the Turnitin report and examined the reasons for my article's 9% plagiarism rating. I acquired 6% of the 9% from other publications but I don't accept the last 3% because it contains the words from the reference area. I cannot see any purple layer in my Turnitin report. Although I don't believe I made many grammatical mistakes in my evaluation, I do believe that I should improve my grammar in order to expand my vocabulary. I am not the right person to comment on how instructors should use Turnitin because they have a lot of experience compared to me. Moreover, students should use Turnitin to check their scores to improve their assignments before submitting them to the professors. I always take the help of grammatical tools before submitting my assignment as they enhance my grammar and improve my vocabulary I think every student should use grammatical tools to improve their vocab skills reference link. Is this rate acceptable in your opinion? Why or why not? After reviewing my Turniti What is the percentage of your paper taken from an outside source? Is this rate acceptable in your opinion? Why or why not? After reviewing my Turnitin report, the yellow flag label on my submission page shows a similarity warning of 26%, but on opening the feedback, the percentage of similarity I saw was 14%. Going through my match overview the percentage of my paper taken from outside sources is enumerated below; 1. My Turnitin report's first highlight reveals a 7% match with papers submitted to Northeastern University. While evaluating this match, I noticed it had to do with the title page of my submission, which is not unreasonable given that the title page would be comparable to all other classmates, given that we are working on a similar topic with a similar lecturer. 2. Similarly, the second highlight revealed a 4% correlation with the journal paper. I agree with this match because the highlighted words were taken from the article. I should have used my own words or a quotation mark around the name of the institution listed in the article. 3. The third highlight revealed a 2% match with researchgate.net, which was also associated with the journal article. I agree with this match because the highlighted words were taken from the article. I should have used my own wording here or utilized quotation marks when appropriate. 4. The fourth highlight revealed a 1% match which was relevant to the journal article's citation. For the first highlighted section of the Turnitin report, I would say a 7% similarity test is somewhat substantial, but I believe the report will be reviewed by the lecturer, who will determine the appropriate consequence, given that such conduct should be expected from a class of students taking an identical course. For the reasons stated above, I believe this should not be included in the grading scheme because it is expected that in a class of learners given the same assignment, the title page will be identical in terms of the name of the institution, course, assignment, date, and professor. This, I believe, also applies to the fourth highlighted section of my report. Click on the purple grammar tools layer. What type of corrections did you receive? Are there any that are confusing or with which you disagree? I followed the instructions and clicked on the purple grammar tools layer, but I didn't notice any suggested corrections; I have included a screenshot of my page for reference. How do you think instructors should use Turnitin? Following on my own personal experience, I am of the view that instructors should use Turnitin, as a means of educating students on proper academic writing, since most university policies on plagiarism contain little information on successful academic writing (Abasi & Graves, 2008). Instructors can use Turnitin reports to ignore non-plagiarism results like : 1. Use of improper punctuation to denote citations. 2. Improper reference formatting. 3. Usage of similarities as a result of the assignment question being restated 4. Utilization of well-known words, and phrases of journal authors. 5. Use of phrases or common words showing 1% matches due to common use of words (McCarthy & Rogerson, 2009). How do you think students should use Turnitin? Here, consider if students should be able to view originality reports before or after the due date, the interpretation of the originality report, etc. Concerning student use of Turnitin, I believe that students should use Turnitin to improve their academic writing skills and correct errors in a citation. (Devlin, 2006). Students can also use Turnitin to check their similarity reports and re-submit their assignments several times before the final submission, this will help ensure that students practice and improve on their academic essays before the submission deadline, and this will significantly reduce the incidence of academic dishonesty (Crisp, 2007). With the foregoing in mind, I believe that students should be able to examine the originality report prior to submitting each assignment because empirical evidence has been shown it is beneficial to all students in improving their academic writing skills as well as learning appropriate citations (McCarthy & Rogerson, 2009). Also, viewing the originality reports also assists students in actively editing and realigning their works after many submissions. Do you generally trust online grammar tools? Why or why not? In the past, I utilized a grammar tool called "Grammarly." I only used the free version of the web-based application, although there is a premium version available. Based on my experience with the web-based grammar tool, I do not trust it because some of its suggestions are inaccurate; so, I rely solely on my understanding of the English language and strive to acquire new techniques and methods to improve my writing skill.

A case study and references that were submitted to Northeastern University were the focus of 78% of the data. In my view, if the concepts are original, the number is not acceptable. I used the sources other than turnitin, which was showing 0% plagiarism but unfortunately I'm now in the middle of nowhere and trying to convince the university that I can't change the words if the topic is same for everyone. If Same words and prepositions are called plagiarism, then I think the report for everyone will be wrong and plagiarised. Article and prepositional problems were the only grammar mistakes. The correction recommendations I got weren't totally pertinent. But I disagree with the errors that these tools typically bring out. Some are unclear, such as the advice to change a preposition that I was given. However, when I tried to replace it in order to determine which option would have been preferable, my intended meaning was not conveyed. Students should utilise Turnitin positively to grasp the calibre of their work, and professors should use it not only for evaluation but also to gain a sense of where their class stands (Rolfe, 2011). They ought to be aware of academic ethics. Students put forth more effort as a result of this technology, which improves their comprehension of the material. The students will feel more confident if they can see their work before it is due (Bensal et al., 2013), and if they utilise the tool beyond that date, they can reflect on it and concentrate on the details of their ideas rather than relying on the opinions of others (Khoza, 2015). Despite its advancements, technology cannot match our understanding of the text. When we write particular things, we usually have a concept in mind. We are able to identify the word or preposition that best expresses our feelings at any given moment. I personally don't completely trust online grammar checkers because I think the meaning often gets muddled in the middle and due to this, I got reported for plagiarism, which I didn't do. I'm happy to know that 87% of the content is unique. I agree with the report as I used some phrases and words same as those written in the article because I was not able to find synonyms for those terms. Secondly, the purple line which shows grammatical errors, but I do not agree with that because I get grammatical errors in the title of the article and on the reference page. It is obvious that the citation doesn't follow grammar. Lastly, in my point of view, Turnitin is a good platform to check plagiarism as grammar errors are also highlighted in the text while checking. I mostly use online tools for checking grammar but it is hard to decide which tool is correcting grammar properly as plenty of online tools are available for grammar correction. So, one cannot completely rely on these tools. Turnitin may be a good platform for checking plagiarism in academics but, sometimes few similarities have been found as all students work on the same assignment and/or the same topic. It also doesn't check the data available on site which needs login. Which is a limitation of Turnitin. Otherwise, it is a good platform for students to check the plagiarism before submitting any assignment and not breach the rules of academic integrity. References: Mahy, A. E. (2022, July 29). Studies have shown that Turnitin will highlight the parts that need to be rewritten, which is an important step to cultivate literacy skills Rolfe 2011 . Reference Rolfe, V. (2011). Turnitin is one of the tools or resources used by academic staff to identify plagiarism. I think that a rate of under 25% is reasonable. In my last summary assignment, the Turnitin result show me my similarity was 39%. So, in my opinion, it's not acceptable a similarity over the 25%. Developing or researching, education is multiple options that can be learned through experience. The student still requires instruction and resources or guidelines to advance in study and development or research. I think that sometimes 20% or 25% of taking ideas for study progress and research from others is acceptable. Next time I also need to do a better job of properly writing with vocabulary and grammar. I accept the Turnitin reports show my grammatical error. It's good to you rereading your assignment or essay in academics or research before you submitted because you made a mistake in spelling or grammar so you have a habit of rereading then it's a chance to improve your assignment. Turnitin is a useful tool that instructors should use to verify students' work for plagiarism and language errors. Turnitin is a useful and time-saving tool that instructors should use to verify students' work for plagiarism and language errors. In my opinion, a student should utilize the tool after submitting the assignment since errors will be noticed by the professor, they will lose students marks during the first stage of graduation, they will make them aware of mistakes, and they will motivate them to resolve them. Students should be given the opportunity to examine the originality report before the deadline so they can make the necessary changes to earn a high academic grade. Utilizing online grammar checkers might be a spotlight that directs you to your goal. using an online grammar tool can help students' English. Finally, I think that because there are only so many words and phrase structures available, even though each person is unique and has a different word combination and sentence structure, repetition eventually occurs, although unwittingly.
