There are many technology resources that can help students who struggle with their
phonemic skills. One example of a technological resource that can help students to develop their phonemic skills is I Ready.
i-Ready Learning
is a collection of high-
quality instructional resources that help students learn and grow by accessing grade-level materials. Grounded in best-practice instructional design, these tools provide rigorous and motivating reading instruction that: engages students

data so teachers can make informed teaching decisions. It is a program that we use at the school that I work at and I absolutely love it. Another great program that helps improve phonemic awareness is Lexia. Lexia uses games and interactive activities to “build skills with explicit practice in phonemic awareness and phonics while promoting gains in vocabulary, fluency and comprehension” (Lexia Learning Systems 2010, p.2). I have worked side-by-side with students who have used lexia and have seen it work. The students love the interactive games and the fact that it builds up makes it adaptable to children with all walks of life. Whether they are above or below level they can use Lexia to help improve their reading skills. Resources: Creators of i-Ready | Curriculum Associates
