2 Matching the Research Question with the Research Method Research papers' primary foundation entails specific research questions or hypotheses. In most cases, such research questions primarily identify what one aims to answer. However, the research question expands the problem statement, which describes a specific issue one seeks to address. For this scenario, there is a focus on the Fabre et al. (2022) paper to identify such different principles within research articles. In the article called “Hierarchy in the cockpit:How captains influence the decision-making of young and inexperienced first officers.” talks about this potential hazard which is the hard influence that can have a Captain over an inexperienced pilot, affecting sometimes very critically their Aeronautical Decision Making (ADM) An examination of this Fabre et al. (2022) paper explores its research problem statement, research question, and research design. The Fabre et al. (2022) paper's research problem entails identifying captains' influence on their young and inexperienced first pilots within aircraft navigation. In this case, the article explores how captains use their power and hierarchy to shape the decision-making of young subordinates pilots. This problem statement effectively communicates the research problem to readers since it allows one to quickly understand the article's purpose. For instance, looking at the paper's problem statement, one can easily identify its intent in determining how captains' guidance within aircraft navigation promotes direct influence in first officer pilots. Besides, this paper incorporates multiple research questions. These two research questions focus individually on the young first pilots and the captains. Research notes that the study investigates the propensity of first pilots to indulge in risky touchdown decisions and the rate at which landing decisions face influences from the mandated aircraft captain (Fabre et al.,
3 2022). Within the first research question, the article primarily explores the first pilot's nature while operating aircraft to determine their involvement in risky landing initiatives. However, in the second research question, the paper focuses on captains' influence in challenging landing initiatives for later correlation with the first research question. In this scenario, answering these research questions solves the paper's research problem since it provides findings that depict the influence of captains in aircraft navigation and their subordinates' pilots. In addition, this paper employs an experimental research design. Research notes that the study incorporate an experiment framework with two parts, where in the first phase, participants operated the aircraft as a lone pilot, while in the second phase, their aircraft operation incorporated the captain's monitoring (Fabre et al., 2022). This experimental research design is correct for this study's research problem, question, and data since it identifies the relationship between the independent and dependent variables. In this case, the experimental research designs facilitate a more straightforward breakdown of the impact captain poses on the first pilot's decision-making within the aircraft. Moreover, the research applies an adequate data collection method through an experimental study of 17 pilots and a data analysis plan across two-tailed Spearman correlation tests that provided reliable findings for answering its research questions. In conclusion, the Fabre et al. (2022) paper research problem entails identifying captains' influence on their young and inexperienced first pilots within aircraft navigation. This paper also incorporates two research questions, one exploring the first pilot's nature while operating aircraft to determine their involvement in risky landing initiatives. The second research question identifies the captains' influence in challenging landing initiatives for later correlation with the first research question. In addition, this paper employs an experimental research design with two parts. In the first phase, participants operate the aircraft as lone pilots. In contrast, in the second
