Everything Wrong With School In 10 Minutes or Less!
When I was twelve, I had no appreciation for school. I saw it as nothing more as a glorified daycare
center with all the rules and regulations specifically designed to restrict as much fun as possible.
Then one day in the ninth grade, I had a revelation: what if school was actually meant to build me
up with knowledge and facts and not just waste my time? This was the foundation I needed to get
me through the next four years. Whenever I was bored, I would remind myself that I 'd never have a
"free" education like this again. I adapted particularly well to this system of tests, quizzes, and
science labs but I could never understand the hang up some people had with it. School was basic and
easy and all it seemed to require was consistency an+d proper scheduling. I looked at people who
couldn 't understand US History or Geometry and I thought they were dumb. It wasn 't until much
later with much more reflection that I came to conclude there 's a difference between how you score
on the SATs and how smart you actually are. Education isn 't necessarily a direct line to becoming
intelligent and knowledgeable; education is nothing more than an institution designed to equip
people with subsets of specialized processing methodologies, algorithms, and a fair bit of esoteric
trivia. Furthermore, the current educational system in place is inefficient because of its rigid nature.

Expository Essay: Rough Draft Everyone can feel, just like you and I, but there's one important
question that lingers through the air. Should we really be accepting of other people? To answer the
question, yes! Although this does speak from opinion, it's essential to be accepting of others. It's
understandable to find laboriousness when looking through others, but we need to remember the
reasons why it's imperative. To start off, we're all the same! We're all people, but sometimes, we
seem to overlook that part of us. We all process the same way, and I feel as if that's a good enough
reason to find acceptance. Something else to remember is that we all have emotions. When we don't
accept eachother for who we are, our emotions can get

Nowadays robots are known worldwide. It gives us advantages. These advantages are important for
engineers or the future engineers as well. If we know how it works, we can use it in the right way
that can gives us more benefits than you'll ever know. Like all of us know, machine–designed things

line in a drawing program, of course using the program would make such a better and straight line.

The Beauty of the black Widow
Gordon Grice is fascinated, maybe obsessed with the black widow. He begins provocatively " I hunt
black widows. I capture it. I have found them in discarded wheels and tires and under railroads tires.
I have found them in house foundations and cellars...I have found them I hospitals and in the den of

"I" so that the reader can get the attention into it. Grice's purpose in the " Black widow

inform the audience about the widow's life style. He shows inspiration, fascination, respect and love
for widows. He furthers his purpose by using rhetorical strategies throughout his text.

Reflection Of Expository Writing

Reflective Essay
I have been taking Expository Writing for 4 months. I have found that I need to be able to
communicate myself in writing. I must relay exactly what I'm trying to put forth to others and
convey the right message of understanding. I must be able to explain myself, negotiate, and work in
teams. My language skills can be worked on and improved. I need to be able to pick up the language
of whatever environment I'm in whether it be at work or school, or in society. Since everyone does
not have the same background, learning how to write the written word is important in any
environment. I have learned how to write and express myself, how to think for myself, and how to
find answers to things I do not know. Most important I have learned how to believe in my writing
.
I was very hesitant in taking this English class, I have not taken an English class in many years.
When I took the placement test for reading and English, I tested out of all categories. I was proud of
myself for that feat. When I found I was going to have to take a college level English class, I
avoided it at all costs. Too much pressure. However, I have learned about the Rhetorical Essay was
to understand how an author writes and not focus on what the content is. Knowing the explanation
of what techniques and author uses to make their point come across to the intended audience. I
learned about Argumentative Research Paper is to debate both sides of an issue. The intent is to be
unbiased and state the facts on either side. I learned about Public Piece with Presentation is meant to
deliver an effective presentation to engage your audience. Your audience listens to not only what
you are saying but your visual engagement in the topic being presented. Also, the point of the class
is to be able to work with others to achieve a desired outcome or task. To know that I can work with
others in a cohesive environment to draw on everyone's input and views. This will assist me in the
real work of life and assist in handling many types of people and myself in communicating.
I have never been a good writer; however, I have learned that communication is not the same when
writing. Having a conversation about aliens

How to Analyze an Expository Essay
Expository writing, in general, is present everywhere. When you pick up a magazine or examine a
newspaper article on the newsstand, you are reading a form of exposition because the author's main
purpose of writing that article or essay is to inform the reader about a topic. In the classroom, many
students are required to produce research papers about a specific topic, such as migration patterns of
birds. The purpose of that research paper is to inform the reader, the teacher, about what are the
migratory patterns of birds. Finally, at the workplace, many people are required to create business
reports and memorandums to inform their supervisors and co–workers about the company's finances
and progress. In order to analyze these expository

"Good" directions for a process essay should satisfy the following criteria: clear, concise, organized,
and acknowledges common mistakes. Within the model essay itself, it satisfies all of these
requirements. The text describes, "when you find water becoming extremely hot (or cold)," the
homeowner suggests that the guest, "exit the tub promptly while using a sweeping motion with one
arm to push shower curtain aside"(Frazier 303). This piece of direction is clear because it plainly
informs the guest on the actual action they have to perform in order to prevent hot or cold water
from burning or freezing the guest. It is also concise because it does not include any irrelevant
information pertaining to avoiding burning or freezing the guest. This essay is organized because
when the author listed out his or her directions, he or she listed them out in chronological order.
Lastly, "How to Operate the Shower Curtain" acknowledges common mistakes, such as
"REMEMBER TO KEEP SHOWER CURTAIN INSIDE TUB AT ALL TIMES!" (Frasier 303). The
author is cautioning the guest to keep the shower curtain within the bath tub no matter what. The
reason for determining the kind of expository essay it is to help in determining the purpose of the
exposition as a whole. Next, the third step to analyzing an expository essay is to perform the

Essay On Black Lives Matter
Black Lives Matter is an international activist movement that started within the African–American
communities. This movement is organized by Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi. Ever
since the black people have stepped on American soil, they have continued to be victims of racism
and violence. From slavery to lynching to segregation, the black people have suffered alot in this
country. In the past few years, there are so many of them that have been targeted by the law
enforcement authorities across the country. This movement's goal is to raise awareness of racism
and violence against African–Americans. They wants African–American to live with dignity and
respect like other Americans do.

This video shows how protesters block all lanes of I–94. The police officers gave them twenty five
warning to leave. Yet, some people chose to stay and continue to protest. According to the police,
the protest turned into a riot and some people threw rocks and bottles on the freeway. During this act
of violence, twenty one police officers were injured. In order to cease those protestors, the police
officer used non–irritant smoke and sprayed mace. At the end of the protest, 50 people were arrested

There is usually a protest after an unarmed black person is killed by a police officer. By protesting,
they try to seek attention to shooting of black people by disrupting commerce and preventing people
from commuting to one place to another. After Alton Sterling and Philando Cartile were shot by a
police officer, the Black Lives Matter marched on the streets and blocked highways in July 2016 in
Minnesota. In December 2015, they even disrupt local business on a busy holiday shopping with
peaceful protest. Despite getting warnings, the Black Lives Matter organization gathered in a
Minnesota Mall. They compelled some of the stores to be closed for hours. They said there will not

The Importance of Homework Essay
Students spend hours doing it, teachers spend hours checking it. Homework is sometimes a burden
to teachers and students but still it is necessary. Some people doubt homework's effectiveness, but
teachers and researchers agree homework is essential. Homework helps students get better grades in
school.
Some people don't know exactly what homework is. Homework is defined as an out of class activity
assigned to students as an extension or elaboration of classroom work(KidSource). There are three
types of homework teachers generally give out. The first is Practice assignments, they are
assignments that reinforce newly acquired skills or knowledge(KidSource). An example of these
assignments is writing definitions down for new words

Parents, students, and teachers all sometimes wonder how useful is homework? Though studies
examining the relationship between homework and school achievement have been inclusive(ERIC).
Still many teachers and researchers still agree that homework helps students achieve higher grades
in school. Schools that assigned homework frequently showed higher student achievement than
schools that assigned little homework(ERIC). This means that homework is working. Studies have
generally found that if teachers carefully plan homework, homework can be quite
helpful(KidSource). Homework has proven its effectiveness and is a very powerful factor in student
performance.
Students should only spend enough time on homework so that the subject is reinforced and not just a
waste of time. The national PTA suggest that from K–3 grades there should be no more than 20
minutes a day, for 4–6 grades there should be 20–40 minutes of homework, and from 7–12 grades
time varies do to types of subjects and number of subjects taken(KidSource). Anymore than these
recommended amount of times is seen excessive by the national PTA. Surprisingly U.S. students are
working as hard as Asians: 24% of eighth graders do more then two hour of homework compared to
Japans 28% and Germanys 17%(Brimelow108). Are we working to hard, researchers don't think so,
U.S. student grades are improving. As of 1996 one in every sixth grader does more than an hour of

Communication is very important and we should speak with the individual about how they would
like to be supported on their personal hygiene routines.
Individuals can have specific preferences and needs due to different backgrounds, culture and/or
religion. It is important to respect how they would like to carry out their personal hygiene in a non–
judgemental way so they can be fully supported and happy with their routines.
Also, we should encourage and praise them to do their routines as most as they can do to promote
their independence. Some equipment and aids can be helpful to achieve more independence.

Human Nature: Good or Evil? Essay
For centuries many philosophers, as well as most individuals, have pondered on the question what is
good and what is evil. More–so philosophers of all ages have also stumbled upon a more in depth
question which is if the intuitive knowledge of man's nature is good, or if it is evil. Many have
claimed to have an answer to these puzzling questions yet most of their answers were found to be
incomplete and inadequate at a later date. Religion also tried to provide a solution but to my
understanding only caused more of an entanglement if anything. According to the current definition
from Webster, good is defined as morally excellent; virtuous; righteous; pious; where as evil is
defined as morally wrong or bad; immoral; wicked. One could

Would these people be considered evil and if so how did they become this way? Were they born this
was or was it some sort of external forces that led them to become evil? Well according to Hsun Tao,
another Chinese philosopher, humans were born of an evil nature and with some sort of guidance
from a teacher could learn to become good. He believed that what is natural to human beings is
desire and desire inevitably leads to conflict; since this is evil then so is the nature the results within.
Yet referring back to the young child and well example, why would most people do the right thing?
Is it because they are taught to be good again is it something that is deeper? However, another
Chinese philosopher, Kao Tzu, beleived that human nature is neither inherently good nor inherently
evil but rather a "blank slate" that could be conditioned in both directions. When an individual is
born he/she has no ideas or preexisting behaviors but that through life experiences and external
forces, such as family and friends, that influence ones human nature. Or according to John Locke
"the mind at birth is a blank white sheet of paper on which experience writes." Religion also claims
to provide a solution for whether human nature is initially good or evil but this of course varies upon
the religion. According to Catholicism everyone who has been born is tainted with original sin
which according to the bible is an inclination to evil caused

The Positive Effect of Social Media Essay
Sarah Arms Professor Hawk English Comp II 15 April, 2013 The Positive Effect of Social Media
Since the birth of social media people have argued whether it has a positive or negative effect on
society. Social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram give people a chance to stay
connected. Although, with the power of social media comes the possibility of cyber bullying. While
there are some negatives associated with social media, the positives in communication all around,
has made the world stronger and a better place to live in. Social networking can benefit businesses
greatly. These sites allow businesses to advertise and market services to a large audience, and since a

Social media also allowed students to work with new technologies. Because of this students are
becoming more familiar with computers and other electronic devices. (Dunn) However, there are
some negative effects that come with social media. Research has shown that social networking sites
can be very addictive. People who use social networking sites for their daily communication are
hooked to a point that they neglect health responsibilities, especially their diet. The addictive nature
of social media can lead to eating disorders, obesity, heart problems, sleep disorders, and other
pertinent health issues. ("Social Networking: Advantages vs. Addictions.") Another downside to
social media is that the user could share too much information which may pose threats to them. (Ali,
Imtiaz) People using social media need to know the risks that come with social networking. Users
can help protect themselves by not sharing personal information with others they do not know and
by having their social networking profiles on a private setting. Social media has both positive and
negative effects. However, I feel as though the positive outweigh the negative. So many people
benefit from social media including businesses, students, and distant friends. Although, when not
used intelligently social media can be a destructive thing. Social media users should know the risks
of social media and educate themselves. Overall social media is a positive thing that has made

You ever hear someone say they have swagger? A lot of times people's swagger is determined from
their style. For example, everyone has a specific style of fashion. If you put on some cargo shorts
with a tank top and slides you're probably not going to a job interview. Just like anything else,
writing has different expressions. Writing is a form of communication; the person is writing to
inform, persuade, describe, or tell a story. There are four main types of writing styles, expository,
persuasive, descriptive, and narrative. We then choose what we want to read according to our
interest in each category.
Let's look at expository writing. Expository writing is usually developed around one topic and is

Its name might as well give it away. Think of a closing argument in a court case being presented to a
jury. Each party's counsel is presenting a persuasive writing in the form of a speech. In this type of
writing the writer uses choice words in a cohesive manner in order to "sway" or persuade the reader.
You will most commonly come across this type of writing in advertisement. With that being said,
persuasive writing is all around us. This type of communication may consist of the writer's opinions,
but the best form also includes facts to back up his or her statements. With attempts to get
consumers to purchase specific products, we see persuasive writings all around us in today's world.
"The battlefield had a cold malevolent air to it, the wind howling past you in every which way, as if
trying to express its own confusion at the sudden seize–fire. I, myself, was confused. One minute the
bullets were raining holy hell down on us in a never–ending bombardment, and the next, nothing."
An anonymous soldier gives detailed picture of a battlefield scene. Descriptive writing, often used to
portray a vivid, detailed experience, person, place, or thing, is third of the writing styles. This style
of writing requires strong observation skills to convey the writer's point of view. In personal stories,
you tend to see a lot of descriptive writing because it's the writer's story. He or she was there and can

Mama understands the past and the significance of a family heritage. Her heritage including her
memories of her mother and grandma making quilts together by hands.

The character of Mama in the short story "Everyday Use" by Alice Walker endures through intense
times and takes advantage of what she has. She is a lady that tells things how they are, only plain

by a car: "chin on chest eyes on ground, feet in shuffle, ever since the fire that burned the other
house on the ground." This demonstrates that Maggie absence of self–confidence make her
frightened to look. She imagines that on the off chance that she can't see the individuals around her,
then they can't see her. What's more, Maggie's discernible scars have impacted on the way she
conducts herself. As indicated by Mama, when she was pulling Maggie out of the fire, her arms
were adhering, "her hair was smoking, and her dress was tumbling off her in minimal dark papery
pieces." This is huge light of the fact that indicates how much the flame really physically scarred
her. This additionally clarifies why she is so apprehensive about individuals seeing her. Maggie's

The Health Benefits of Exercise Essay
Exercise is one of the most important factors in a persons' life. Physical activity, or the lack of it, can
result in a person having a healthy life or cause them to have diabetes. The benefits of exercise are
countless. The positive health results, the improvement in attitude, even better academic
performance are all factors which make not exercising inexcusable.
Merely not using a person's body is harmful. Not being active results in a person's muscles
becoming weak and out of condition. The effectiveness of a person's heart and lungs will decrease.
A person's joints will become stiff and can be injured easily. Inactivity can be as much of a health
risk as smoking. In addition children have become extremely lazy with all the

Adults should have around thirty to sixty minutes of physical activity four to six times a week. Two
hours and thirty minutes is the minimum a fully developed person needs to lessen the risk of having
some type of chronic disease later in life ("Information").
Physical fitness has two main classifications–performance related and health related. People have
different performance related requirements in accordance with their occupation but all people have
the same health related requirements (The World). Then there are two types of exercise that helps
tone a person's body while increasing its endurance. These are aerobic and anaerobic. Aerobic
exercise is exercise that uses the muscles and bones. Cardio activities are a good example of this,
such as running or biking. This type of exercise increases the strength of a person's heart and boosts
their lung capacity. Anaerobic exercise is an intense but short amount of exercise (Payment). Since it
is only for a brief amount of time, it does not require the amount of oxygen aerobic exercise does.
Instead it uses glycogen which comes from the sugar in a person's blood. An example of this
exercise is weight lifting or sprinting. A person's requires both anaerobic and aerobic exercise for
good health. Simply doing a cardio work out is not healthy, and for a person to see real results there
must be some activity like weight lifting ("Anaerobic").
By performing some type of physical activity each

Of Mice and Men Expository Essay
Of Mice and Men Expository Essay John Steinback's Of Mice and Men is a book that describes the
chase of the American Dream. Although achieving the American Dream is a great desire for all,
seldom does it actually come true. George and Lennie, the two main characters in the book, have a
goal of pursuing their version of the American Dream, as do many other characters. However, due to
relationships and other conflicts, that dream is not achieved. Almost immediately, Steinback poses
the question of whether or not companionship leads to failure of the American Dream. For example,
George says, "'Guys like us, that work on ranches, are the loneliest guys in the world. They got no
family. They don't belong no place. They come to a ranch an'

Through these examples, and others found throughout the book, Steinback tells the reader that no
goal is accomplished through isolation. If isolation does not make for good outcomes, than it would
seem that its opposite, companionship, should. For instance, George and Lennie's dream only seems
possible through their companionship and with the help of another friend, Candy. This is
demonstrated where Steinback says, "They fell into a silence. They looked at one another, amazed.
This thing they had never really believed in was coming true."(60). This quote shows that the "thing
they had never really believed in" could happen through each other's contributions. Through
companionship, each person would have to raise less money and therefore the dream could come
true, and could come true faster. Things are often easier, quicker, and less painless when one has a
partner to help them. It is only through their companionship that their dream seems possible. Once
one of them is gone, the dream dies. This is shown in the passage that says, Now Candy spoke his
greatest fear. "You an' me can get that little place, can't we, George? You an' me can go there an' live
nice, can't we, George? Can't we?" Before George answered, Candy dropped his head and looked
down at the hay. He knew. George said softly, "–I think I knowed from the very first. I think I

The Importance Of Expository Reading
Expository text is a very important form of reading material that is used to present content in
different ways. Starting as early as kindergarten, children should be able to identify the main topic,
ask and answer questions, and describe connections between two different pieces of information
(Roehling, Hebert, Nelson, Bohaty, 2017). Teachers have problems with students reading expository
text. It is sometimes more difficult to read than just regular story reading. Hebert, Bohaty, Nelson,
and Brown conducted a meta–analysis on text structure instruction, concluding that it was an
effective way to improve expository reading comprehension (Roehling, Hebert, Nelson, Bohaty,
2017).
Different strategies were developed to help with understanding expository reading comprehension.
Teachers play a big role in helping the students understand. They have to begin with clear learning
objectives that outlines the skills teachers want their students to demonstrate by the end of the
instruction (Roehling, Hebert, Nelson, Bohaty, 2017). Once the teacher decides on the learning
objective, they can plan specific instructional strategies to help students achieve the objectives. If
there is a clear goal from the teacher, things will be easier on the students. Identification strategies is
a good start in recognizing the structure of an expository text. There are two possible goals of
identification strategies: to recognize a single text structure or to discriminate among several

Expository Essay Vs Persuasive Writing
Even though expository essays and persuasive essays both have research and a thesis statement, they
are different in the way that expository explains while persuasive argues. The expository writer
provides clarifying information about a topic while the persuasive writer presents an argument. The
purpose of an expository essay is to explain to the reader your position without trying to get the
reader to choose your side. In a persuasive essay you write to persuade the reader to choose an
argument side. They are similar in the way on how they are structured they both require a thesis and
a lot of research
.
A topic that could be developed using persuasive writing could be arguing why a person shouldn't
litter. This topic has two sides that could

Peak Hour Essay
Stressed, left eye twitching, shouting at inanimate objects? Eighty three percent of all Canadian
drivers find peak hour traffic more stressful than work. That means sitting in traffic is worse than
sitting through your boss's PowerPoint presentation. Everybody has their own personal traffic
nightmare, whether it's a massive backup, or perhaps, those screaming kids in the back. However,
there is a way to calm your seething road rage and keep cool through the frustrating gridlock
. If you
find yourself in one of these situations the first thing to do in order to calm yourself down is to
embrace the fact that you are stuck in a gridlock. You are going to be there for a while, you might as
well have a good time. The second thing you do

Keep the vehicle at a comfortable temperature. Studies have shown that you are much more irritable
when you are warm, so crank up the A/C to keep your body temperature at a comforting level. Make
sure you have plenty of gas when you set out, so that you're not actually worried about running out
of gas by using the air conditioner. In milder weather keep windows open to get fresh air which is
soothing. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing while driving
. Avoid wearing clothes which are too
tight and restrictive. Keep a pair of shoes in the car for driving through traffic and make sure to
change into those as soon as you start out driving. Opt for a seat cushion or back rest to further make
yourself more relaxed during traffic periods throughout the day. Joe Brown, editor in chief of tech
blog Gizmodo, indicates that the best thing to do during a traffic jam is to stay in the slow lane,
because if you are trying to hurry, you are never going to win. So stay in the right lane, let
everybody else pass you, let everybody else stress out , just take your time and make a great day of
it.
How you think can have a profound effect on your emotional and physical well–being. Each time
you think a negative thought about yourself, your body reacts as if it were in the throes
