Essay on Writing Experience My Writing Experiences My experiences in writing have been minimal. I have only learned the basics of writing, like putting together sentences, forming paragraphs with sentences, and things like that. Since I have been taking college English, I can tell my writing has improved a lot. In the future, I hope to be able to improve tremendously at writing essays, paragraphs, research papers, documents, and stories so that I have very little to no errors with drafting and final products. I predict I will be a well rounded writer when I graduate from college. Writing in the past started in kindergarten. My teacher taught me how to write my name over and over until I could write it with no errors. All through elementary my teachers taught me ...show more content... Run–ons and fragments I need to be able to spot and fix right away or I really need to not have any in my papers at all. My goals are to write papers and not have to reassure myself that maybe I need to do more research or have more data or even have to rethink my whole topic over. I would love to have the knowledge to be a tutor someday and teach other people how to properly write papers, paragraphs, essays, and maybe even books. To have excellent skills in writing will definitely be a great advantage in my nursing profession. In nursing, I will have to do lots of charting on my patients. I will have to do health presentations on various subjects such as exercising, how our society eats, and sex education if I want to be a course instructor. Researching information on all of those topics I will have to make sure I do an excellent job on and collect accurate information and statistics so that I can compare to other sources. Dictating to the doctor means that I will need to write properly so that he understands what I am saying. Other nurses will have to be able to understand what I am talking about by my writing skills when doing shift changes. Individuals can have specific preferences and needs due to different backgrounds, culture and/or religion. It is important to respect how they would like to carry out their personal hygiene in a non– judgemental way so they can be fully supported and happy with their routines. Essay on Effective Communication Skills Introduction An important step to becoming an effective leader is to develop effective communication skills. Communication is the transmission of meaning from one person to another or to many people, whether verbally or non–verbally (Barrett, 2006). Effective communication enables leaders to lead. Effective communication occurs only if the receiver understands the exact information or idea that the sender intended to covey. As a leader, studying the communication process is important. Communication skills, including the ability to problem solve, work in teams, and adapt to various audiences, are critical in today's workplace (Levy& Murname, 2004). Since the most successful leaders communicate well, understanding how your ...show more content... The IHC instrument consists of 27 statements. Using a 5–point scale with 1 being strongly agree and 5 being strongly disagree, I rated each of the 27 statements. A score between 109 and 135 indicates an excellent understanding of the communication process. A score between 82 and 108 means there are a few areas that need some work while a score between 54 and 81 suggests there are several areas that need attention. A score between 27and 53 implies across the board improvement is needed. This instrument heightened my understanding of my role as a sender and a receiver. It highlighted the importance of asking questions and providing feedback in order to promote clarity. It stressed the significance of non–verbal communication so that I not only hear, but also see what is being communicated to me. Finally, I learned the impact of using the appropriate communication channels for maximum effectiveness. Next, I used an updated version of Mok's (1975) Communication Style, to determine my communication style (see Appendix B). The Mok survey was modified by Hartman and McCambridge (2010) using insights from Alessandra and Hunsaker (1993) and Merrill and Reid (1999). I chose this survey instrument because it has been used in both academia and executive development programs over the last several years. Peak Hour Essay Stressed, left eye twitching, shouting at inanimate objects? Eighty three percent of all Canadian drivers find peak hour traffic more stressful than work. That means sitting in traffic is worse than sitting through your boss's PowerPoint presentation. Everybody has their own personal traffic nightmare, whether it's a massive backup, or perhaps, those screaming kids in the back. However, there is a way to calm your seething road rage and keep cool through the frustrating gridlock . So stay in the right lane, let everybody else pass you, let everybody else stress out , just take your time and make a great day of it. How to Analyze an Expository Essay Expository writing, in general, is present everywhere. When you pick up a magazine or examine a newspaper article on the newsstand, you are reading a form of exposition because the author's main purpose of writing that article or essay is to inform the reader about a topic. In the classroom, many students are required to produce research papers about a specific topic, such as migration patterns of birds. The purpose of that research paper is to inform the reader, the teacher, about what are the migratory patterns of birds. Finally, at the workplace, many people are required to create business reports and memorandums to inform their supervisors and co–workers about the company's finances and progress. In order to analyze these expository ...show more content... "Good" directions for a process essay should satisfy the following criteria: clear, concise, organized, and acknowledges common mistakes. Within the model essay itself, it satisfies all of these requirements. The text describes, "when you find water becoming extremely hot (or cold)," the homeowner suggests that the guest, "exit the tub promptly while using a sweeping motion with one arm to push shower curtain aside"(Frazier 303). This piece of direction is clear because it plainly informs the guest on the actual action they have to perform in order to prevent hot or cold water from burning or freezing the guest. It is also concise because it does not include any irrelevant information pertaining to avoiding burning or freezing the guest. This essay is organized because when the author listed out his or her directions, he or she listed them out in chronological order. Lastly, "How to Operate the Shower Curtain" acknowledges common mistakes, such as "REMEMBER TO KEEP SHOWER CURTAIN INSIDE TUB AT ALL TIMES!" (Frasier 303). The author is cautioning the guest to keep the shower curtain within the bath tub no matter what. The reason for determining the kind of expository essay it is to help in determining the purpose of the exposition as a whole. Reflection Of Expository Writing Erwyn Suruy December 9, 2017 Eng 111 Reflective Essay I have been taking Expository Writing for 4 months. I have found that I need to be able to communicate myself in writing. I must relay exactly what I'm trying to put forth to others and convey the right message of understanding. I must be able to explain myself, negotiate, and work in teams. My language skills can be worked on and improved. I need to be able to pick up the language of whatever environment I'm in whether it be at work or school, or in society. Since everyone does not have the same background, learning how to write the written word is important in any environment. I have learned how to write and express myself, how to think for myself, and how to find answers to things I do not know. Most important I have learned how to believe in my writing . I was very hesitant in taking this English class, I have not taken an English class in many years. When I took the placement test for reading and English, I tested out of all categories. I was proud of myself for that feat. When I found I was going to have to take a college level English class, I avoided it at all costs. Too much pressure. However, I have learned about the Rhetorical Essay was to understand how an author writes and not focus on what the content is. Knowing the explanation of what techniques and author uses to make their point come across to the intended audience. I learned about Argumentative Research Paper is to debate both sides of an issue. The intent is to be unbiased and state the facts on either side. I learned about Public Piece with Presentation is meant to deliver an effective presentation to engage your audience. Your audience listens to not only what you are saying but your visual engagement in the topic being presented. Also, the point of the class is to be able to work with others to achieve a desired outcome or task. To know that I can work with others in a cohesive environment to draw on everyone's input and views. This will assist me in the real work of life and assist in handling many types of people and myself in communicating. I have never been a good writer; however, I have learned that communication is not the same when writing. Having a conversation about aliens Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

How to Make Fruit Smoothies Essay Ever wish there were a delicious smoothie somewhere to buy at an inexpensive price? Well there is, and there is no need to go out! Read this section on how to make fruit smoothies and make a scrumptious smoothie. To make a good smoothie, the materials needed are: about ¾ cup of juice, or milk, about 2 cups of fresh or frozen fruits, ½ of yogurt, and finally, 6 cubes of ice if the fruits aren't frozen. A blender that can crush ice well and that has a secure lid is also required. Unlike other recipes, a smoothie recipe doesn't have to use exact measurements. To have a better tasting smoothie, use frozen fruits. Freeze fresh fruits, or buy them pre–frozen. If the fruits are too big, cut them in half. Also, peel the fruits before loading ...show more content... To make the smoothie healthier, include a scoop of whey or soy protein powder. For a sweet smoothie, use pineapple juice for the liquid. Something creamy? Try milk. Try using different flavored yogurts and combinations of fruits. Now that all the material is prepared, get cooking! Gather all the ingredients and put them in the blender. To make things easier, put the fruits first, and then the milk or the juice. The liquid will help the fruits melt a bit, making it easier to pure. Finally, add the yogurt. When all the ingredients are in the blender, turn it on, using the liquefy or puree setting. Depending on the blender, wait about 30 seconds and turn it off so that the fruits will be mixed up well with the liquid and the yogurt. Make sure to put the cap on the blender and watch out for the cutter! It hurts if you cut yourself on it. When the ice cubes stop blending, turn off the blender and see if the smoothie is clear and if there are no chunks of fruits inside. Get a spoon and move it around in the blender to check. If the smoothie looks too thin add more fruits or ice and this should thicken it up. If it looks too thick, add more liquid in it. Adding yogurt or a banana will thicken the smoothie, but don't add both unless another watery fruit is used in the smoothie. Once this step is finished, pour the cool concoction into a large glass. For maximum health benefit, drink the smoothie straight away. If there is too much, then freeze the smoothie. A frozen Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

BUILDING A HOUSE Essay Building A House The process of building a house is a very complex and difficult task. In the following paragraphs, I will be explaining the many different steps that are required to build a house. The first thing in building a house is selecting a lot and lot preparation. The land has to be cleared of trees and brush and graded to ensure a level building area. This process is usually called excavating and grading . This is usually a very fast process but can be costly depending on the job. Also the land has to perk which means the land is not too wet and is safe for a structure and allows a septic tank to be installed that will function properly. The next step is to have the land surveyed. When the land ...show more content... When the framing crew is finished, the framing has to be inspected and passed before the next process can begin. The next process is for the electricians and plumbers to begin. The electricians will completely wire the house while the plumbers will only put in the first stage of pipes. The reason for not completely plumbing is because the showers, sinks, and toilets are the very last items to be installed. After the wiring and preliminary plumbing are complete, insulation and installing the windows on the house are done. Using a good insulation and good windows will help reduce the heating and cooling costs of the homeowner. This is a step in building a house that you should spare no expense. The insulation and windows will pay for themselves in the long run. Next, the builder will be hanging sheetrock. The sheetrock is the base interior wall covering. After the sheetrock is hung, the painting or wallcovering can be done. Once painting is completed, the carpet installation or other floor coverings can be installed. This is self–explanatory. Inside trim will also be done during this phase. This includes various molding and window casings and other items to be done to the specifications of the homeowner. Then builders will move to the outside of the house. The boxing and siding crews will start on the exterior of the house. Here you have to choose whether you want vinyl siding or one of the many of the other kinds of siding on the market today. There Get more content on StudyHub.Vip
Liberal Arts Education Essay A liberal arts education is one that, by definition, focuses not on one specific subject, but rather prepares its student by giving them knowledge in many areas and developing the student's critical thinking that will allow them to adapt to an ever–changing world. Naturally, this means students at a university that employs a liberal arts education take classes outside their major. Students of the humanities or social sciences must enroll in courses of mathematics and natural sciences, and while many find no joy in such requirements, they better the individual and are helpful in everyday life, as well as in larger issues. As Crane and Chiles so eloquently write, specifically of science, "Science matters at a liberal–arts university because the problems facing our global community will not be solved by scientists alone." Mathematics as a subject acts in a similar way, giving skills to students, non–mathematics majors included, to help in their everyday lives or potentially to help the world. ...show more content... To do that, Chopp argues that "What you have to do is to learn the very tools of learning itself. The liberal arts are...the gold standard for that" (qtd. in Goral). Students, particularly those in the humanities and social sciences, are thus offered different methods of learning when classes stretch beyond their major. As is an essential part of a liberal arts education, this breadth of knowledge enhances the critical and intellectual thinking of students that otherwise might not have had the opportunity to do so. The creativity and pursuit of knowledge encouraged by non–STEM majors has much to offer to solve the problems of the world, and a basic understanding of mathematics and sciences means that these problems seem much more understandable, their solutions more Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

The Importance Of Expository Reading Expository text is a very important form of reading material that is used to present content in different ways. Starting as early as kindergarten, children should be able to identify the main topic, ask and answer questions, and describe connections between two different pieces of information (Roehling, Hebert, Nelson, Bohaty, 2017). Teachers have problems with students reading expository text. It is sometimes more difficult to read than just regular story reading. Hebert, Bohaty, Nelson, and Brown conducted a meta–analysis on text structure instruction, concluding that it was an effective way to improve expository reading comprehension (Roehling, Hebert, Nelson, Bohaty, 2017). Different strategies were developed to help with understanding expository reading comprehension. Teachers play a big role in helping the students understand. They have to begin with clear learning objectives that outlines the skills teachers want their students to demonstrate by the end of the instruction (Roehling, Hebert, Nelson, Bohaty, 2017). Once the teacher decides on the learning objective, they can plan specific instructional strategies to help students achieve the objectives. If there is a clear goal from the teacher, things will be easier on the students. Identification strategies is a good start in recognizing the structure of an expository text. There are two possible goals of identification strategies: to recognize a single text structure or to discriminate among several possible text Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

English Expository SAC– Inner Journeys "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" The purpose of this expository piece is to explore various effects of a journey that is initiated from a single step. The argument will be presented using previous texts studied in class in relation to the prompt "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. The intended audience is to people of all ages, but specifically to students studying the concepts of inner journeys. All human beings experience some sort of transition in their life, whether it be ones search of self identity or the need for change. An inner journey can have both positive and negative effects on an individual. Some believe that an inner journey which ...show more content... However is all this really worth putting yourself in such danger? This is where the analysis procedure of positive risk–taking must be taken into consideration. Think of the possible consequences of the situation and ask yourself if there are any benefits from participating. Many people fail to assess these consequences and as a result they lead themselves away from undertaking a profound journey of awakening and self discovery. In the film Dead Poets Society, Neil Perry attempts to rebels against his father's over protective and strict morals. In order to free himself, Neil takes his own life. His decision is an example of a journey that is insufficiently revised; this in turn results in a negative outcome from poor risk taking and an incomplete journey. In everyday life people make decisions on a daily basis, some of which intellectual and others to a much lower standard. An intellectual transition is thought through and based on numerous events that bring about a positive outcome otherwise known as positive risk–taking. However, in this case Neil's irrational behaviour does not allow him to think his decisions thoroughly. It is important that all human beings consolidate their choices before taking action as it is evident that such behaviour will most definitely result in harmful consequences; some of which fatal. Every Inner journey is a result of a single step. Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

Expository Essay Rough Draft Expository Essay: Rough Draft Everyone can feel, just like you and I, but there's one important question that lingers through the air. Should we really be accepting of other people? To answer the question, yes! Although this does speak from opinion, it's essential to be accepting of others. It's understandable to find laboriousness when looking through others, but we need to remember the reasons why it's imperative. To start off, we're all the same! We're all people, but sometimes, we seem to overlook that part of us. We all process the same way, and I feel as if that's a good enough reason to find acceptance. Something else to remember is that we all have emotions. When we don't accept eachother for who we are, our emotions can get Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

The skillet needs to be turned to medium high and then the sandwich needs to be turned every one to two minutes depending on how soft or crispy. The microwave method would just consist of putting the cheese between the bread and microwaving it for about a minute and a half. You ever hear someone say they have swagger? A lot of times people's swagger is determined from their style. For example, everyone has a specific style of fashion. If you put on some cargo shorts with a tank top and slides you're probably not going to a job interview. Just like anything else, writing has different expressions. Writing is a form of communication; the person is writing to inform, persuade, describe, or tell a story. There are four main types of writing styles, expository, persuasive, descriptive, and narrative. We then choose what we want to read according to our interest in each category. Let's look at expository writing. Expository writing is usually developed around one topic and is used to describe or inform you ...show more content... Its name might as well give it away. Think of a closing argument in a court case being presented to a jury. Each party's counsel is presenting a persuasive writing in the form of a speech. In this type of writing the writer uses choice words in a cohesive manner in order to "sway" or persuade the reader. You will most commonly come across this type of writing in advertisement. With that being said, persuasive writing is all around us. This type of communication may consist of the writer's opinions, but the best form also includes facts to back up his or her statements. With attempts to get consumers to purchase specific products, we see persuasive writings all around us in today's world. "The battlefield had a cold malevolent air to it, the wind howling past you in every which way, as if trying to express its own confusion at the sudden seize–fire. I, myself, was confused. One minute the bullets were raining holy hell down on us in a never–ending bombardment, and the next, nothing." An anonymous soldier gives detailed picture of a battlefield scene. Descriptive writing, often used to portray a vivid, detailed experience, person, place, or thing, is third of the writing styles. This style of writing requires strong observation skills to convey the writer's point of view. In personal stories, you tend to see a lot of descriptive writing because it's the writer's story.
