Title: Animal characterization through drawing and recitation
Date:
Age Level
: Preschool children
Participants
: A small group of children of about five heads per team
Developmental Domain
: Cognitive development
Developmental Concepts
: By the end of this activity, children will be able to:
1.
Classify animals according to their sounds
2.
Imitate different animal sounds
3.
Identify conspicuous features of the classified animals
Description
: The activity entails grouping the children into small groups of five individuals per team. These teams classify animals based on their sounds while also drawing using crayons of their preferred crayons. The children get issued with flashcards containing the animal’s pictures to help them identify the features at a closer look.
Materials: A projector, a laptop, flashcards with different animal pictures, crayons, drawing papers.
Method
:
Step one: Provide an illustration through the projector of different animals to be covered during the session.
Step two: Issue the children with flashcards containing the animals covered in the illustration.
Step three: Ask the children randomly the sounds made by different animals as I replay the video using the projector.
SURNAME 2
Step four: Request the children to draw their favourite animals from the flashcards while highlighting their features with different colours.
Step five: Assess the children’s proficiency by going through their work and providing remarks.
Modifications
: This activity plan can get utilized by older students through incorporating more diverse animals and more detailed features. Instead of drawing, they could be asked to write an essay.
Evaluation Plan:
1.
The children would get assessed to determine their concept proficiency by using a language enhancement checklist retrieved from “Teaching Strategies Gold”
(Qiu et al., 2021)
2.
I would confirm that the children have achieved the program’s objective when they correctly imitate specific animal sounds.
3.
I would also confirm the children’s proficiency when they correctly link the chosen animals with their features and sounds.
