2 Review Writing Assignment There are billions of websites available to the general public on any topic imaginable. Therefore, one of the most important skills to learn and use on a daily basis is being able to analyze these websites for factual information. When evaluating a website for factual information on a disorder such as attention deficit disorder (ADD), it is crucial to make sure that all the criteria are met. This criteria is typically evaluated based on five factors which are authority, accuracy, objectivity, currency and coverage. An association that meets this criteria and provides information on ADD is the Attention Deficit Disorder Association. They are an organization of adults with ADHD who provide a safe environment for those that may be diagnosed with this disorder or a similar disorder. The ADDA’s website is easily accessible as well as provides accurate information to those seeking answers. Therefore, the ADDA’s website meets a minimum of three of the five factors of criteria which are accuracy, currency, and coverage. Accuracy The website is broken into tabs which each contain information or resources to those looking for support with ADD or ADHD. With extensive facts given on how the disorder may present itself, as well as the possible treatment plans, the ADDA’s website is a great initial resource for anyone that may be curious or worried about the disorder. By reading the “about” tab on the website, readers can get insight into the background of each main staff member and their story with either ADD or ADHD. As the association contains 5,364 members who have also been diagnosed with ADD or ADHD, the community has access to the most up-to-date facts. (ADDA, 2023.) The National Library of Medicine states that accuracy is the most important criteria when analyzing a medical form (Karnes & March, 2000.) The website from the ADDA

3 about the topic of ADD definitely meets the criteria of accuracy with their in-detail and easily accessible information. Currency Founded over thirty years ago, the ADDA takes pride in “bringing together scientific perspectives and the human experience to generate hope, awareness, empowerment and connections worldwide in the field of ADHD (ADDA, 2023).” The internet changes almost as fast as diseases and, therefore, it is important for information to stay up to date and relevant. The organization works on staying relevant by sending monthly newsletter, to those that sign up, containing information about the disorders as well as motivational stories. Furthermore, they join other recognized organizations such as CHADD and the ACO at an annual conference to continue bringing the most up to date information about the disorder to those that may suffer. By interacting with their members many times throughout the year, the ADDA website continues to stay current and gain members. Coverage With a multitude of tabs available to the public on topics ranging from ADD symptoms to a mission statement to available resources, the ADDA website has something for every person’s needs. No matter where in their ADD journey a person may be, this website would have information available to help answer questions. Under the “grow” tab on the website, there are resources such as webinars from established authors, virtual workshops, and a library full of journal articles about the disorders. ADD and ADHD are disorders that are ever changing and typically look different on an individual scale so it is important for associations such as ADDA to continue growing their coverage of the topics. Conclusion When someone is diagnosed with a disorder, they will typically reach out to others and spend time researching possible symptoms and outcomes. This is why it is so important for a website to be factual and not spread false information to those that are already in a stressful situation. The Attention Deficit Disorder Association provides factual information on both ADD and ADHD throughout their accuracy, currency, and coverage of the disorders. As they are an organization designed and run by people with ADHD for others that may also suffer, they have extreme accuracy in their information as many have experienced it firsthand. They continue to stay relevant with community outreach and memberships for those that may want more help with their disorder experience. The Attention Deficit Disorder Associations provides coverage of topics on ADD and ADHD, as well as meets criteria for a successful website. Throughout their use of accuracy, currency, and coverage, the ADDA will continue to be a sought after resource about these disorders. References
