Understanding Writing Assignment Summary Dan Melzer, a former student at Florida State University, discusses a few approaches to succeeding as a writer in "Understanding Writing Assignments: Tips and Techniques." Melzer addresses seven methods to do well as a writer; whether that be in school or the workplace. To shortly summarize the tips, Melzer explores ways that students can help themselves by using their resources. Also, by analyzing the questions and instructions that a teacher asks of the class. I sort of thought this tip was useless. He tries to explain why the tip is useful, but after reading it I came to the conclusion that it's just basically overthinking since at the end of the day it's all just common sense. Summarize and Evaluate will always have the same definition, so if an instructor says, "Hey, summarize this," you should know what summarize means. Although, if you want more information and know exactly what is expected then you should ask, but I just feel as though that's doing way too much and overworking yourself (even though I will still do this from time to time.)
