Grand Canyons Student Reflect Ya’Nea Muse College Name:Grand Canyon University Course Number: Unv-103 Instructor’s Name:Kevin S Assignment Due Date: 12/10/23 1
Why Grand Canyon? I come from a small state called Minnesota, you’ve probably heard of the Twin Cities or West Metro and that’s I reside. I previously went to a college called Minneapolis Community Technical College which I figured out wasn’t a great fit after I continued had to pay out of pocket due to my motivation. The staff was outgoing, but their focuses were not primarily concerned about their academic graduation rat nor students' success. I was enrolled in four courses while attending MCTC, these courses were Communication 101, Statistics, Biology, and Chemistry. I withdrew 3 of them due to me procrastinating and going through seasonal depression. This was my first major life change for me.  Meanwhile I had no support system while attending but I found the courage to complete my last course strong. From my previous experience at University of Minnesota the support I received was phenomenal along with competence of my courses I received Letters of Recommendations. While attending high school I was enrolled in a program called PSEO ( PostSecondary Enrollment Opportunities), Due to me receiving A Honer Roll from early and on-time class completion. While on my search for colleges who accepted or transfer, I was told about GSU. I was informed classes start every week, so I inquired submitting my interest.  What’s Your Study? While at Grand Canyon I am current pursuing my Bachelor of Health Science. Although I am not 100% sure this is the program I would like to stick to, I know I enjoy being in the healthcare field setting. There and plenty of programs here at Grand Canyon that allows me to maneuver in addition to grow to see my strengths in different courses. During this span of time, I planned to go over more programs Grand Canyon has to offer that may fit my career path. I plan on 2
connecting more with my advisor; to gather information on switching my program to a current path for students pursuing doctoral degrees or in that field.  What Does Your Future Hold? My end career goals are to become a neurosurgeon. I’ve been inspired since child to become the first person in my family a doctor or complete college. My academic plans differentiate from others in my family since I was raised separately. I was taught and raised in the healthcare home, meaning my mother worked in for hospitals for a living. I was engraved to perceive I must have a “in demand” job to survive. To age in a home with this perception I was always actively helping my elders in my community. My past life experiences reflect what my future can hold since I’m so adamant. If my career path were to change the possibility of me staying in the healthcare industry are high.  How Prepared Am I? My time at Grand Canyon has been filled with tremendous great support from facility members and instructors ensuring me I can succeed. This course has taught me how much of a procrastination I am and the importance of submission on late work late work. At Grand Canyon there are policies and penalties for submitting classwork past the dues date alongside with completing weekly discussions. I learned that’s discussions make up half of your grade for participation in the course. By learning the key components at GSU, to be successful at Grand Canyon you must participate in discussions by replaying to classmates in a timely manner including classwork submissions. This course prepared me to not expect every instructor to have the same policies and requirements for students to be successful. Some instructors may require students to put 3
