4-3 Milestone Two Submission
When designing the logo and flyer, I decided to use Adobe Illustrator. Adobe Illustrator gives me the ability to create a design for the logo and flyer by using my own graphics though the use to different drawing tools and art effects. Adobe Illustrator also provides many different typography choices which was very useful for what I wanted to design. It also allows me to save
my projects in different formats which is helpful when dealing with businesses giving the option to use the designs for print or on the web.
The flyer will be delivered to the targeted audience through social media. This includes Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Businesses are taking advantage of social media as it provides an interactive channel amongst their target audience (Arduser & Flatley, 2014). The purpose of the fundraising campaign is to collect as many donations as possible within 30 days. By utilizing social media, you are receiving “free help” in a sense, because social media allows users to share your content. These shares allow your content to reach many others, and even those who may be outside of your target audience. In a fundraising campaign you want to target those who care about animals. However, a share from someone within the target audience influences a friend or family member, who doesn’t typically donate to this sort of thing, but decides to contribute because it’s something their loved one cares for. Social media provides a limitless reach to very broad audiences, so it is the appropriate channel given the goal is to raise as much money as possible for the animal’s shelter.
When creating my designs, I took into factor the Gestalt Theory. The principles of design within the Gestalt Theory attempt giving the minds of our audience, and ourselves, the “
when
and how
our minds perceive different visual components as being part of the same group” (Busche, n.d.). Therefore, some of the elements of this theory I used within my designs was simplicity and symmetry. For example, simplicity was used within the logo with simple objects like the outline of the house representing “shelter”, The heart shaped paw, representing love and animals. Common region was used within the logo with a heart within the paw and the paw within the house to represent the love with animals and their protection through their shelter. The colors I used within the logo were reflections of warmth, love and peace with blue, red, orange, and green. The colors used within the flyer were more directed towards urgency as I used bold colors like red and black with a bright yellow background. The typography used in the
flyer was also meant to give the viewer a sense of urgency as it is bold and clear. My goal within the flyer was to convey a message of urgency. Therefore, I used yellow in the background with bold typography in the colors of mainly red and black. I made sure the number 30 was enlarged so the viewer would immediately understand the campaign only has 30 days to be completed and reach the goal of collecting enough donations to build the animal shelters. I made sure to include the logo in the flyer so the viewer will connect the flyer with this
specific animal shelter. I wanted to make sure there were illustrations of animals on the flyer so it would immediately tell the viewer “this flyer has to do with animals”, in hopes to preventing people from just scrolling past the flyer on social media. The message of the logo was to present
a loving company for animals. Because it is a shelter, I used the outline of a house covering a
paw print with a heart in the middle to convey love and warmth for animals. I used a simple and playful typography. The colors I used all represent love, warmth, and peace.
