Personal reflection.
As part of this unit, the first assessment involved developing an infographic regarding a software technology that could be used to teach students within the classroom. Prior to this unit, I have not created an infographic before let alone used canva, so I found this as a new challenge. Previously I have crated educational projects including posters and PowerPoint presentation, to understand the procedures of infographics I had to research examples and identify how they may flow and the process of creating them. Within the first class I attended we were taught about canva and learnt how to create a poster using elements such as icons and widgets, this was highly useful as it taught me how to use the software. This assessment involved researching into multiple software. In the second class I learnt about digital identities, the digital world using social media, banking, email and Google store.
Prior to this class I was not aware that I had my own digital identity and online digital tattoo. For the assessment I researched the types of technologies I identified including WIX, Kahoot,
and Class DOJO and learnt about the effects of their digital impact. I found the software Class DOJO incredibly interesting as it was a good website that was interactive allowing student to be entertained and connect with each other. The software is highly interactive and produced a lot of entertaining tools that can be used to entertain student increasing their productivity to interact and learn in the classroom. After completing this assessment, I understand that the software has multiple pros and cons of its use in the classroom. The pros include enhanced communication, behaviour tracking, parent involvement while the cons include over-reliance on technology, data privacy concerns and distraction. Thanks to this assessment and the lessons taught in class I am a bit more confident in creating
infographics and have increased my understanding of the developing technological advancements being created to assist students learning in the classroom. Words: 330
