Abstract
Effective communication is perused in a case setting that allows managers to see how it can be instilled. Mark Chen has a problem communicating with his staff and has reached out to find a feasible solution. This solution is worked out through the management functions of planning, organizing, directing, and controlling. This process also takes into account the biblical aspect of how these same functions were implemented or discussed in the Bible. This allows for a realistic,
practical approach to viewing the methods that are being used in this case. Allowing for the analysis of the problem ensures for a more detailed and strategic solution to be created. Using all of the perspectives of the management and staff gives way to an increase in flexibility for the solution allowing it to be more acceptable to both parties. Using an organizational communication plan has the potential to give Mr. Chen the opportunity to focus on other aspects of his management.

Effective Communication Assignment
This paper is focused on the importance of effective communication between managers and staff. “When something breaks down in communication, chances are you didn't do something well. It's important to take responsibility. If you don't, no one will. (Berdiev, 2019, p.39)” There is a necessity for proper communication that will allow increased productivity and better understanding between the two parties. It is pertinent to effectively use communication in order to ensure there is a healthy relationship between the management and employees. Developing a plan of action to attack any communication concerns will help organize a manager to reach successful, effective communication. Even in biblical times, effective communication yielded positive results as we saw with Elisha. Organization and effective communication can help immensely. Case Solutions: A Problem in Communication
Many managers suffer with communication problems with their staff. It is very simple for
people to fall into unhealthy routines of informal communication such as the “grapevine” when relying on information from coworkers or other management that are not the actual source. The text describes the grapevines as follows: “an informal communication network along which unofficial information flows” (Jones & George, 2021, p. 435, Internal Communication Networks section, para. 3). When approaching methods of effective communication, one must be sure to apply helpful management functions such as planning, organizing, directing, and controlling. Each function has its own purpose in ensuring effective communication.

Mr. Chen has already begun to take the first steps in the planning process of effective communication. By reaching out to me for advice, this allows an open line of communication to a trusted adviser for assistance. This is just as the three kings went to Elisha in search of a plan from the Lord. “Jehoshaphat said, ‘The word of the Lord is with him.’ So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him. (2 Kings 3:12)” While planning, we shall take a look at all of the important parts of the dynamic that needs work and prepare for the next steps on the road towards effective communication. Organize
“But all things should be done decently and in order. (1 Corinthians 14:40)” In order to properly organize an effective system of communication, we must first choose a method of communication that is appropriate. In this case, the email application seems to be the best fit since there is physical evidence of a paper trail available. It also allows for certain senders to be prioritized, and it can be customized by Mr. Chen to allow for a reminder to be sent as well. “Organizing ensures that the workforce and structures align with the goals, linking the right people to accomplish the task and looking at the big picture, including evaluating the communication process. (Anders, 2021, The Importance of Communication section, para. 1)” Organization is a key component to enable for the process to run smoothly and be trusted. Direct
The management function of directing is most important in Mr. Chen’s role. The strategic
plan of communication will not be effective without his direction as a manager. He will need to ensure that there is a widespread alert that notifies the members of his staff of the changes he is

instilling in order to be sure they will be followed. He must also delegate proper responsibilities to the proper people when it comes to following up on responses to his emails and the alert itself.
Following direction is seen to be very fruitful biblically such as the story of the widow’s olive oil. We read the text from Merida et al. about her obedience and God’s provision, which would have not been possible without the widow following direction from Elisha (Merida et al., 2015). Control
“A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls. (Proverbs 25:28)” Control sometimes has a negative connotation placed upon it based on its misuse, but it is a very effective part of the process. Without control, any plan of action has a high probability of quickly falling apart. “In terms of management goals, asymmetrical communication focuses on persuading employees or controlling their behaviors through one-way communication (Kim, 2018, Two-Way Symmetrical Communication section, para. 4).” Mr. Chen must ensure control of the system we have planned at all times in order to maintain its effectiveness and notate any changes that should be made. Conclusion
When working on effective communication, there is always hope as long as both sides are open. This new system of communication should assist Mr. Chen in reaching his staff in a timely manner and encouraging responses from them as well to show that they have received their assignments. Adopting strategies that work best for individual situations can be done by taking a look at all of the perspectives and finding what will make things more seamless. This particular solution should allow Mr. Chen to be able to focus on his other managerial duties with less worry about communication with his staff.
