DQ’s After reading the GCU Learner Goals, which disposition is your strength? Which disposition do you still need to work on? Explain. Answer Sourced from documents After reading the GCU Learner Goals I have determined the disposition that is my strength. " Educators should believe that all students can learn and should set and support realistic expectations for student success . These expectations should be communicated in positive ways . " ( GCU Learner Goals ) These words are only meaningful if they are real and backed up by behavior. We must trust in the potential of students to excel in school. I am still growing, just like my students. They are teaching me as much as I am teaching them . The Disposition I need to work on is Advocacy. Simply put, being a teacher advocate means standing up and speaking out about the things that we already care about. My commitment is to work to ensure that students from low-income families achieve high academic standards in a fun and innovative setting. As I reflect, I know that I could use my voice more . My students need me to speak up and ask for changes. Explanation: The answer provides a personal reflection on the GCU Learner Goals and identifies the strength and area of improvement for the academic tutor. The strength is identified as having a belief in all students' potential to learn and setting realistic expectations for their success. The area of improvement is advocacy, which involves standing up and speaking out about issues that matter, such as ensuring students from low-income families achieve high academic standards. The answer emphasizes the importance of trust in students' potential to excel in school and highlights the need for teachers to be advocates for their students. Assessment Description In “Work or Love? A Christian Evaluation of John Dewey’s Views on the Purpose of Schooling," Cimpean states: Dewey rejects the Christian purpose of schooling, which is to serve and love God. When evaluated from a Christian perspective, Dewey’s progressivism falls short due to its refusal to promote the Christian ideal of serving and loving God. Dewey’s purpose for schooling is to promote a democratic state. In your opinion, what should be the purpose of schooling? There are four purposes of schooling which are intellectual purposes, political and civic purposes, economic purposes, and social purposes. Among them, I think one of the four
The purpose of schooling that appeals most to me as a potential educator is intellectual purposes. Intellectual development in school is important in school because intellectual pursuit leads to personal enlightenment. It helps the students to know how to think, understand, and reason. Intellectual Purposes -Promoting essay writing competitions in our department especially for English major students which enhances their capability to master critical thinking and writing as well Political Purposes -Acceptance for Foreign students that want to finish education in our beloved institution
