The type of digital communication that I have chosen is social media. Over the years, forms of social media have evolved, making communication much simpler in today’s era. We have apps like Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Twitter,
Instagram, and SO much more. The purposes of this form of communication includes but is not limited to the following… Social media plays an important role in law enforcement:
The criminal justice system often times is looked down on because of the various of incidents over the decades, so social media is a way for the justice system to stay in touch with society and make those connections globally.
With this form of communication, information can easily be released and accessed.
It allows police departments to post wanted images and to also give us the heads up to remain cautious of the potential threat to society.
It helps get the word out about missing children, descriptions, images, last seen place, etc.
Accidents can also be reported to the public via social media platforms such as a motor vehicle accident.
There are many purposes for this form of communication.
One benefit
of this type of communication:
The thing about social media is whether it be Falsified or Realistic, the word will spread like wildfire. So, if I am creating an immediate notification after an incident, press
release, social media post, incident report in concern of a motor vehicle accident, anyone with social media access will have gained access to this information. One downside
of this type of communication:
Another thing about social media is as said before whether it be falsified or realistic, there will always be some sort of backlash. There will always be miscommunication and misinformation because when releasing delicate information to the public, you can only be so “open” about the situation. I am not saying the social media is a way to get information to everyone, but it will reach a mass audience.
