Strengths Finder Reflection: Top 5 strengths: Communication, Empathy, Responsibility, Connectedness, and Learner. I was not surprised by my top 5 strengths. I was not surprised because I think these strengths best describe me and my personality. For example, there was a time where I had a group project and through my experience working with my classmates I was able to develop strengths such as connectedness, communication, and responsibility. This project in particular was a game that we had to design and required us to really work together and brainstorm possible ideas to create a new game. Through connectedness, I am able to understand each of my group mates and incorporate their ideas as well as connect with them so that it is easier working together and interacting with one another. This made it easier to work once we were comfortable and understanding of one another because we were able to sympathize with each other and feel more connected which helped the flow of ideas and communication. Some strengths that I look for in team members would be cooperation, leadership, and empathy. These skills complement my skills because by cooperating with the group and by leading or initiating any tasks this shows how responsible the group members are which is important especially when working as a group. Lacking responsibility in a group setting can not only put you behind but can also affect the group as a whole. This assessment does give me ideas as to what specific strengths I look for in team members because it can determine the ability for the group to succeed. In particular, strengths that I look for in team members would be responsibility, leadership, and communication. In the strengths insight action planning document, it lists many ideas that can help take advantage of my strengths. Specifically this idea to, “Identify situations in which you can share the information you have collected with other people. Also make sure to let your friends and
colleagues know that you enjoy answering their questions”. This is really helpful for me because by sharing and answering my colleagues' questions it does not only benefit me but also benefits the knowledge of my team members. It also creates a sense of belonging and comfort between one another to be able to easily share ideas and provide necessary feedback or constructive criticism in order to learn and grow. I might incorporate this into my daily life by interacting with my co-workers and creating a comfortable and safe environment to allow for them to easily share any information that they have learned that can be beneficial to others as well as express any concerns or questions they may have.
