The Office of Data & Information Technology (ODIT) is a newly created UCI enterprise function that oversees and coordinates all aspects of the technology and data needs across the institution, including the campus, research enterprise, College of Health Sciences, and UCI Health. Under the general direction of the Vice Chancellor for Information Technology & Data, the Director of Communications is responsible for implementing a strategic communication and outreach plan for all IT units across the UCI enterprise, while reporting into the Office for
Data and Information Technology (ODIT). 2.
Explain why or why not you are a good candidate for this job.
I wouldn’t mind giving this job opportunity a try, but I believe that I will burn out very quickly as it requires so much attentive detail that centers around a group, community, and population. I think this job is a huge responsibility and needs someone who is confident in themselves and knows that when they mistake it will be okay to go back and figure it out with a team of their own. I would say I am confident enough to help in small groups, but I don’t think I could incorporate myself in a job with so many expectations.

My portfolio highlights the necessary skills for this job, but I believe it would be me as a person and the confidence it would require that I would need to practice.

How can you improve your portfolio to better show you are a good fit for the job?
I think I could improve by continuing to work in places and jobs that require the same requirements but start somewhere small.
