Program Evaluation Essay Monica D Piper Grand Canyon University CNL-540: Research Methods & Program Evaluation Dr. Kaufmann August 9, 2023
Program Evaluation Essay Performing and/or conducting a needs assessment, the evaluator must be aware, must have knowledge, and a clear understanding of the evaluation's definition and aim. The process of identifying and addressing needs between the program's current condition and ideal situation is known as a needs assessment. The gap between the current situation and the intended situation must be measured to ascertain the program's necessity. The information in this essay will cover the needs assessment for an AA program, including a tool that might be used to evaluate and/or assess the program's effectiveness, an intervention that could evaluate and/or assess the program, and a plan for implementing the suggestions and/or recommendations provided. Needs Assessment Many questions might be raised regarding or related to the Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) program. What exactly is the purpose of AA, how many people utilize it, and how beneficial is it? In the United States and throughout the world, a significant amount of people are utilizing this particular program. Just a few of the essential elements that make up a needs assessment include identifying the guiding questions and goals, deciding the population that needs to be assessed, acquiring data for the needs assessment, and analyzing and interpreting the findings. These elements provide me the ability to assess the Alcoholics Anonymous program's requirements in my neighborhood. The assessment's findings will make it obvious what the program needs. Based on the 12 steps used to help persons with alcoholism, guiding questions may be developed. Trying to entirely and/or completely abstain from drinking alcohol for one day could be one of the simplest and/or straightforward goal. The possibility exists for each group member to further develop, establish, solidify, and define their own unique personal goals within the
group. Those with alcoholism would be the ones being evaluated. The insights gained and/or gathered from the needs assessment could potentially be utilized and /or implemented as reinforcement to strengthen the program or to demonstrate the beneficial effects of AA. After gathering and collecting the data, I can determine whether the program needs to be improved or if it is working effectively for those who are participating. Outcome Measurement Tool Alcoholics Anonymous could potentially be investigated, emphasized on, and addressed utilizing this strategy and/or approach since qualitative data's descriptive nature makes it possible. Being that these groups frequently tend to be relatively small in numbers, I probably would have gotten the chance and/or opportunity to meet with each group member individually, and ask each of them a few questions about their experiences utilizing the program. Data collection from program participants can now be done in this manner directly. Misunderstandings and data issues would have less of a chance to arise. One thing to remember is that membership numbers can change and that some members' attendance may be less frequent Keep in mind that membership numbers can has the potential to fluctuate and that certain members' attendance may be inconsistent. Given that it has the ability and/or capacity to influence the outcomes, this must be considered and taken into account throughout data collection and analysis. The only persons involved in this should be regular attendees so that the experiences are drawn from people who have had them over time. A participant who shows up less regularly might not have as much to contribute.

Intervention Throughout this needs analysis, cross-lagged regression panel analysis was implemented as and/or functioned as a means of intervention. This particular sort of panel analysis has been utilized to analyze, characterize and/or describe the underlying directionally or reciprocally impacting interactions between variables throughout time (Allen, 2017). In accordance with the research findings of this panel study, AA was beneficial in reducing alcohol use. The statistics also suggested that people who attended Alcoholics Anonymous on a regular basis were less likely to relapse. The cross lagged regression panel analysis provided a comprehensive analysis, revealing that if the program was followed for an entire year, alcohol use was even lower the next year.. The intervention itself was relatively beneficial , constructive, and insightful in demonstrating how using the program encouraged, aided, supported individuals showing up, nevertheless it also exhibited the accuracy, validity, reliability and dependability within anticipating and examining the impact participation or involvement would have on the program participants. Due to the fact that this study depends añd heavy reliance on participants' attendance at Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, it is classified as quantitative data. Implementing Recommendations Based on this needs analysis, the information and results can be provided. Results might. draw attention and/or emphasize either the advantages or disadvantages within the program as a whole, while at the same time showing whereas it still requires work. If the program undergoes improvements, it will eventually be able to reach more individuals and the group's participants will receive better help. The conclusions of the data would be of interest to stakeholders, and
they would have confidence in the participant interviews and evaluation of the program. By providing users with the knowledge, the software can benefit from making the suggested changes. . An evaluation of the Alcoholics Anonymous program's needs was the subject of the information supplied within this essay. In conjunction with an evaluation and assessment intervention for the program, a method for quantifying the results of AA, and a plan or strategy for carrying out its suggestions, this essay also provided a method for evaluating the results of AA. Program evaluation is a critical step in making sure assistance programs for the poor and disadvantaged deliver services that are helpful and meet their needs.
