GRA 280 Module Four Activity Template Use this template to complete the Module Four Activity. Replace the bracketed text with your responses. 1. Describe the target audience for the advertisement. Consider the following details in your response: What are the target demographics and attitudes? Young Families where the parents are in their mid-forties and younger with children between the ages of 4 through 10 or so. Attitudes are contemporary, frugal, and skeptical. What types of food are they likely to prefer? The food types they will consider are the types where food does not require utensils, easy foods that you can eat while walking, standing, or sitting, and no messy sauces, or spicy foods. Foods like hamburgers, sandwiches, pizza, wraps, chicken nuggets, juices, soft drinks, yogurt, smoothies, etc. Which visual components, like color, layout, and images, are they likely to prefer in the advertisement? The preferred color for the advert would be Fully saturated vibrant primary colors. The layout should be simple, clean, and organized. Illustrations work more effectively with kids than photographs. Illustrations of the food truck's menu as cartoons with nutritional values and prices above the foods. The fonts used for the advert should be sans serif types. What informational expectations do they have from the advertisement? The targeted audience, which is the kid's parents, will want nutritional values and the prices of products to be visible and inclusive. 2. Analyze the audience's responses to the given advertisement. Consider the following details in your response: How did the audience respond to different visual elements in the advertisement such as images, colors, and fonts? The parents’ responses indicated the ad lacked information such as the nutritional value and prices of food. The targeted audience also said the fonts were hard to read, and the food looked spicy. Kids wanted to see cartoon characters and parents thought the food looked unhealthy. What was the overall effectiveness of the advertisement in communicating the key message? The current advert effectiveness is extremely low on hitting the key message and the targeted audience preferences. The ad's fonts make it hard to read while displaying foods that are not kid-friendly such as spicy and unhealthy. The ad also lacks the proper information such as the price and nutritional values. 3. Identify areas of improvement in the given advertisement based on the responses of the target audience. Justify your answers using information from the target audience response and target market preferences and expectations. Consider the following details in your response: How would you highlight relevant information (e.g., menu options, ease of consumption, nutritional value, the price list, etc.)? I would highlight the menu options, price of food, and nutritional values by creating an information sign that a cartoon character will be holding up.
How can you improve the use of illustrations or photographic images? One way we could improve the illustrations is by creating a family that is looking at cartoon food menu options and holding signs up about their nutritional values and prices. How can visual features like mascots, banners, or stickers be incorporated? Banners could be used to highlight the food truck's name and stickers could be used to display deals and specials. A mascot could stand outside the food truck and draw potential customers in by holding a sign up with today's specials. How would you ensure the effective use of relevant colors and legible fonts? Fully saturated primary colors such as red, green, and blue would be used in the advertisement. Sans serif type fonts will be used for headings and subheadings in order for the advert to be readable.
