Writing in the Early Years 2 A literacy rich classroom raises the importance of speaking, reading, and writing in the learning process of all students. In the article by Reutzel & Clark (2021), the author describes a literacy rich classroom as having all materials are carefully selected to represent language and literacy opportunities, reflection and thought on classroom design, and all instruction in the classroom is intentional. The use of intentional selection and use of materials is the major factor in the development of a literacy-rich classroom. The article describes that students have a variety of resources that allow many choices. This allows the connection of literacy to all elements in the classroom. Literacy centers help reinforce a skill/concept. Teaching literacy to students means that they are given the ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Literacy-rich environments provide opportunities for students to interact with print and literacy tools in a meaningful way. A major benefit of this classroom is because students have opportunities to practice literacy skills that include phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, listening and speaking. In connection to the PowerPoint, the article evaluates the effectiveness of the classroom materials, classroom design/layout, and role of the teacher in a literacy-rich classroom. As shown in the PowerPoint, integrating numerous written materials into student play allows the connection to be made between written word and spoken language. It also helps students understand how written language is used in real word situations. Also, in comparison to the PowerPoint, the classroom design and layout is critical to developing literacy growth for children. A teacher can find this information very important when trying to create a literacy-rich environment. Teachers can view this information to help them design their learning environment that meets the needs of their diverse learners. Teachers can receive the information needed to individualize the environment to meet the needs of students with This study source was downloaded by 100000849070010 from CourseHero.com on 10-26-2023 14:32:52 GMT -05:00 https://www.coursehero.com/file/120396931/Literacy-Rich-Classroom-Benefitdocx/
