Hi Class,
Some challenges that I saw pupils facing
Parental Pressure: I've observed that some parents prod their kids for answers in an
effort to make their kid appear brilliant in class. However, this causes many students
who were able to complete the identical idea in class to struggle when doing it online
owing to parental pressure. Nevertheless, the student was able to complete the task as
soon as the parents left the room (Joshi, 2022).
Technical difficulties, over which none of us had any influence, presented another
obstacle for my pupils while they were learning online. Last week, only the first three
pupils in the class could use the video camera feature of the Zoom web application,
preventing the rest of the group from revealing their faces.
How I engage my students while online.
We will organize group discussions on what the just ended lessons and whether they
agree or disagree, and they will justify their decisions, after I show my students the
video that explains what I anticipate of them (Chade, 2021). With my pupils, I
occasionally engage in a preparation activity like search for the object. The first pupil to
return with the object after I count down to ten becomes the winner. I will mention a
color or specific thing that they must locate in their respective groups (houses).
Moreover, I offer each pupil an opportunity to display their object and share a brief
description of it.
An additional game I enjoy playing with my pupils is called rock-paper-scissors (Chade,
2021). At the conclusion of the class, I typically use this game as a review approach.
First, I ask each student a question concerning the lesson, and then I play rock, paper,
and scissors. Game points are a system of incentives at our school. When I win, they
receive two Points, but if they win, they receive five Points. This is an enjoyable
exercise that consistently holds their interest.
Cross-curricular teaching and the virtual classroom
Pupils who learn online already face several difficulties; they lack desire and feel
alone. Many students find it difficult to learn online due to a variety of reasons,
including a lack of infrastructure (Joshi, 2022). They are easily distracted. As teachers,
we must employ techniques to meet the requirements of our students. Cross-curricular
teaching is one of the greatest teaching methods for online learning. This method has
several advantages since it motivates students, encourages teamwork, and increases
their understanding of the learning process (Byrne, 2017).
