1. Understand learning and teaching strategies in lifelong learning.
1.1 Summarise learning and teaching strategies used in own specialism.
It is very important that i know and understand the various learning styles of my students before I
start my lesson. This will enable my students to get maximum benefit from my lessons.
I could do this through an initial assessment or interview or if i plan my lessons correctly, i could do
this on the first day of class.
Therefore once i know my students style of learning i can plan my lessons to what style best suits
them.

Assessing learning, this can be done by initial, formative and summative assessments. Adapting
assessment activities where possible to meet any particular requirements or needs. Recognising and
valuing individual's achievements. Ensuring assessment planning is individual. Encouraging all
students to reach their full potential.
Quality assurance evaluation, communicating with other team members to ensure they are aware of
any student requirements or issues, obtaining feedback from my students on mine and their
performance in class, there are different ways in doing this.1: verbally, 2: electronically, 3: written.
Evaluating my delivery to ensure I have included all the students fully in my lesson. Liaising with
awarding organisation regarding any modifications required to the learning and assessment
activities.
As teaching about disability I will be using all aspects of inclusive learning, by using a mixture of
different approaches in my class, this will ensure I meet all learning styles and retain student
engagement and motivation.

select inclusive learning and teaching techniques.

Lifelong Learning There are many factors that go into the diagnosis and treatment of developmental
disabilities. It is something that will never go away on its own and requires lifelong treatment so that
each person can achieve learning throughout their lifetime. This essay will discuss what a

However, thanks to IDEA and 504 laws, schools that receive federal funding must provide a free
adequate education for all, this includes special education services; services that are not only to
focus on education but socialization and transition (when older) as well. While each disability is
different and requires specific attention and curriculum, there are many different types of services
offered to students within disabilities at school. Services are to include instruction tailored to their
specific disability/IEP. Services include but are not limited to assistance in communication skills,
self help skills, motor skills and social skills. Communication skills can include speech/language
therapy, using things such as PECS (picture exchange communication system) and/or sign language.
Self help skills would address issues such as properly dressing oneself, maintaining proper hygiene
and assistance with feeding. Motor skills would address both fine and gross motor. This would
include things such as balance, walking, running, jumping, etc as well as attaining things close
within their reach. Social skills would include things such as group therapy and inclusion so that
they can learn how to behave more appropriately and problem solve from other kids their age.
With much focus being put towards academic, social, other various skills during the primary and

Lifelong Learning Overview Lifelong learning can be defined as a deliberate continuous process of
learning undertaken to increase one's knowledge base, competencies, and skills throughout life. It is
not a new idea and was developed in ancient writings, was especially emphasized in the writings of
earlier European education theorists like Matthew Arnold and Comenius (Sharma, 2004). The term
lifelong education appeared in English language writings about 8 decades ago and many main ideas
related to the concept were presented soon after the World War II. Around 1970, the idea got the
momentum and its implementation was favored by many educationists and politicians. But still up
till 1991, it remained an emerging approach to learning. The year 1996 was declared by the
European Union (EU) as the year of lifelong learning. Relationship between Theory, Principles and
Practices We need to develop our competences and skills throughout our lives, for our personal
fulfillment as well as for our active engagement in the society where we live. So, lifelong learning
has become a necessity for everyone. It is important to develop relationship between theory of
lifelong learning, its principles and practices. It is because, learning m ay initiate from any of these
sources. There are two approaches related to lifelong learning: the economic one and the personal

Those around me would describe me as curious, inquisitive: a lifetime learner. Reading any book I
can get my hands on, eyes bleary from late night blog skimming, fingers stained from newspaper

Much like when I was a child, I remain intellectually curious about a number of subjects, but as you
cannot exactly major in "the world," studying library and information sciences will allow me to
engage in a variety of contexts every day. Pursuing an MLIS degree will best prepare me to attain
my professional goals of providing others with access to an abundance of resources. Further, I hope
to be a part in demonstrating that new technology does not have to be a deterrent to access. I initially
developed this goal as a work–study within Jones Library. Most hours were spent shelving
nonfiction in a tightly packed basement. An afternoon's reprieve from shelving cookbooks came in

the needs of the school district (Trainor, 2010), which limits how much information they can freely
disclose, creating an unequal divide that parents must work hard to overcome. This is not a very
family–centered practice, and is one area that schools need to adapt to be more parent friendly.
During IEP meetings, parents and school professionals must work together to ensure that a positive
and supportive learning environment is accessible for the child. Sometimes factors like cultural and
linguistic differences make establishing a collaborative relationship between families and school
professionals difficult (Hess, Molina, & Kozleski, 2006). In order to successfully create this
supportive environment for the child, everyone must be able to effectively communicate, expressing
their self in a caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable manner. Children start off in the world

EXCECUTIVE SUMMARY
This personal essay outlines key plans for my personal and professional development and success in
the future. It shows how I will achieve these goals through continuous learning even after I have
graduated. Furthermore, it tries to help the reader understand the need for lifelong learning

within certain periods of their life time.
INTRODUCTION
Most people believe that, learning is done only through formal education and that this process stops
once they graduate but this is not true. According to Delors' (1996) four 'pillars' of education for the
future, lifelong learning can be defined as one which is done throughout a person's lifetime. It is
adjustable, diverse and attainable all through the various stages of human life. This points out that,
learning is not done through formal means only and cannot be avoided as one progresses through
