You can choose to donate any needed organs or you can specify which organs or tissues you wish to donate. 2. Organ donation is very important. a. The following poem by Robert Test entitled, "To Remember Me," shows the importance of organ donation. "Give my sight to the man who has never seen a sunrise, a baby's face or love in the eyes of a woman. Give my heart to a person whose heart has caused nothing but endless days of pain... Take my bones, every muscle, every fiber and nerve in my body and find a way to make a crippled child walk...Take my cells, if necessary, and let them grow so that, someday, a speechless boy will shout at the crack of a bat and a deaf girl will hear the sound of rain against her window b. Not only is this a problem nationally but also it is a big problem right here at home in Colorado. 1) Nationally, there are over 120,000 people waiting as of November 1, 2011. As of November 7, 2011, there are 1,142 people from Colorado that are on the organ waiting list (Life Source: Statistics). 2) The sad part is that there have only been 137 donors in Colorado so far from January 2011 through November 2011 (Life Source: Newsnotes). Persuasive Speech During my persuasive speech, I used an attention getter with a story to put a face on the problem of the 5–day work week because it is something for the audience to get attached to. In my attention getter, Jeff Campbell suffers from a stroke from working long hours as an accountant. I believe it was effective in showing pathos to the problem of the 5–day work week. In my thesis, I clearly stated the topic and related it to my audience by telling them that it will affect all full–time employees in America. To conclude my introduction, I gave a preview of the what I was going to talk about during my speech, which included the problems, causes, and solutions. I believe that my speech was well organized because I went to different parts of the room for each of my main points, and because of this my main points were very easy to follow. I transitioned between my main points very smoothly with talking while walking throughout the room. Throughout my main points, I gave multiple verbal citations over data that was collected about problems with the 5–day work week and solutions with the 4–day work week. I did not have a way of verbally proving that my sources were credible. I am not sure if I had a variety of different supporting materials, but I had a reliable data and a reliable example of the solution working in the state of Utah. My format for the speech involved pathos, ethos, and logos to use fulfill maximum effectiveness. Some persuasive strategies that I used included telling a story, giving data to support my hypothesis, giving the audience a reason to care about the topic, relating the reasoning about the solution to the audience, giving a real–life example of the solution working, and giving the audience a call to action at the end of my speech. If I used fillers, I was unaware of me using them during my speech. During this speech, I tried to make it a priority to use some vocal variation because I have lacked that skill in past speeches. So, during my speech, I tried to use some vocal variation especially during the reasoning parts because vocal variation really helps with reasoning. I used appropriate movement throughout my speech for each main point to keep the audience interested. I believe that my Get more content on StudyHub.Vip
