A teacher wants to know if using flash cards will increase her students’ scores on the weekly spelling tests. How could she conduct an experiment to test her idea? For each of the following terms, include a definition and description of what would be involved for this teacher’s experiment:
1.
Control group
2.
Experimental group
3.
Independent variable
4.
Dependent variable
5.
Confounding variables
If a teacher wants to know whether or not using flash cards will increase her students’ scores on the weekly spelling tests, here, a control group which is a
group of subjects that gets all conditions except the independent variable is a group of students who take classes without having flash cards activity. In contrast, an experiential group, a group that receives an independent variable is a group of students who take classes with flash cards activity. Here, an independent variable which is conditions altered by the experimenter or the cause is flash cards. A dependent variable which is conditions measured by the experimenters which are the outcomes that may
change as a result of the independent variable is the students’ scores on the weekly spelling tests. We have to consider confounding variables, something
other than the independent variable that could also affect what is being studied. Here, confounding variables could be students who study for the weekly spelling tests at home and students who get tutors for the weekly spelling tests.

You work in a research organization that is looking for markers of various diseases that can be used as a diagnostic for the disease. It has been reported in the past that high levels of Cu are found in the sweat of people with cystic fibrosis. One of the research projects is focused on looking for high levels of Cu in samples that can be obtained non-invasively such as saliva, sweat, hair, nails, etc.
The lab will analyze large samples for Cu. What instrument would you recommend purchasing to support this work, Atomic absorption spectrophotometer or an inductively coupled plasma atomic spectrophotometer? Explain the basis for your decision.

Think about the situation where you are investigating the relationship of study time vs. exam grade.a. Which variable would be on the x-axis (and why)?b. Which variable would be on the y-axis (and why)?c. Would you expect the slope to be positive or negative (and Why)?
2) Contrast and compare interpolation with extrapolation. Which is “safer” to use and why?3) Look up how “the best fit straight line” is constructed. The term “Least squares” should be in your explanation.4) If I plot some data and end up with a r2 of (-) 0.99, is my plot useless? Explain.

• Stock solution: 1000 mg/L
Target sample concentrations: 50-400 mg/L
• Create a 5-point standard dilution to cover the test
• If each test only needs 10 mL, make plans to make the dilution so you
have 20 mL of each concentration.

The initial population size was 790 jackelopes. After only 3 year(s), a new count was taken revealing 685 jackelopes.
Assuming the population of jackelopes is best modeled with an exponential function, estimate the number of jackelopes in the count taken after a total of 8 years

This assignment is designed to help you learn how to
determine total costs by combining direct and indirect
costs for a particular department.
In this GHA, you will be determining the total costs for
three departments: (1) Physical Therapy (2)
Occupational Therapy and (3) Speech Therapy.
To determine the total costs, you will need to add the
direct costs to the indirect costs using the template
provided below.
Please use the example provided in the assignment
description if you find that you need some support
understanding the required calculations.
DIRECT COSTS
The direct costs for each department are easily
identifiable, because they are the costs that are directly
attributable to the department.
The direct costs are as follows:
Physical Therapy (PT)
Occupational Therapy (OT)
Speech Therapy (ST)
Total Direct Costs
INDIRECT COSTS
The indirect costs will need to be allocated to Physical
Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), and Speech
Therapy (ST).
The indirect costs in this…

A: A student adds 50 mL of water to the reaction flask with unknown hydrochloric acid instead of the 25 mL sated in the procedure.
B: A student adds 50 mL of water to the reaction flask with unknown hydrochloric acid instead of the 25 mL stated in the procedure.
C: A student doesn't notice the some of the HCL has dripped out from the volumetric pipet when transferring to the reaction flask
