SCI 100 Module Five Activity: Ethical Issues in the Natural Sciences Template
Instructions
You should use your research on your chosen ethical issue, your news story, and relevant course resources to support your responses to the questions below. Replace the bracketed text with your responses.
Describe an ethical issue that relates to the main idea of your chosen news story.
[The modern animal rights movement seeks to outlaw all human endeavors that result in animal suffering, such as habitat destruction, animal testing and experimenting. and factory farming. In order to do this, proponents of animal rights concentrate on many issues and employ diverse strategies (Darlim, 2024)]
Explain how bias, beliefs, assumptions, or values relate to your ethical issue.
Beliefs
: Animals are sentient entities with the ability to feel both joy and misery. It is morally right and ethical to uphold animal rights to not be hurt, captured, removed from their natural environment, mistreated, imprisoned, or murdered for human benefit. Some believe that animals can’t feel pain.
Assumptions
: that all animal studies cause harm to the animals involved.
Personally
, I believe that if prairie vols are one of the few mammals that form monogamous pair bonds, then that tells me for the study to be conducted, these prairie vols Explain how your chosen ethical issue may impact (or has impacted) how research is conducted on the main idea of your chosen news story.
I do not think my research has been affected or impacted by this ethical issue. Explain how your chosen ethical issue may impact (or has impacted) advancements in the field of study.
Thus, this novel assay system addresses a key aspects of 3R's (replace, reduce and refine) of in vivo experimental research work or rather I should mention 5R's (replace, reduce, refine, reuse, and rehabilitation) (Kumar,n.d).

1. What are fibers and where are they found? How could forensic scientists use fibers to solve a crime?
2. Define the word probative. What is the probative value of a fiber in a forensic investigation?
3. Describe steps you would take from collecting a fiber(s) at a crime scene to performing an analysis to determine its identity.
4. Which of the 6 fiber types you observed are natural? Which are man-made?
5. Are fibers classified or individualized? Why?

The Covid-19 pandemic has many experts commenting on the science associated with the virus - origins, vaccines, monoclonal antibodies, masks, social distancing. It is important to consider what the experts say, but to also evaluate their statements. We will start with the scientific method.
I want you to outline the scientific method from what you have been taught in previous classes. You can list steps, parts, process, short descriptions, whatever. If not taught in previous classes, then you will make your best guess about it.

The life cycle of a plastic bottle
After reading the text below, answer the following questions. Make sure to put it in your own words.
This is the story of three plastic bottles, empty and discarded. Their journeys are about to diverge with outcomes that impact nothing less than the fate of the planet. But they weren't always this way. To understand where these bottles end up, we must first explore their origins. The heroes of our story were conceived in this oil refinery. The plastic in their bodies was formed by chemically bonding oil and gas molecules together to make monomers. In turn, these monomers were bonded into long polymer chains to make plastic in the form of millions of pellets. Those were melted at manufacturing plants and reformed in molds to create the resilient material that makes up the triplets' bodies. Machines filled the bottles with sweet bubbly liquid and they were then wrapped, shipped, bought, opened, consumed and unceremoniously discarded. And now here they…
