Dependent variable and data Collection method   - The dependent variable is the rate of correct responses in identifying Spanish nouns. This will be measured as the percentage of correct responses out of the total trials given. Frequency based data collection will be used by a teacher and they will record the number of correct responses. Data collection will occur during each session immediately following the presentation of trials. Design – Alternating Treatment Design with Baseline and Best Intervention Method. Baseline Collecting data under typical classroom routines without interventions to establish baseline. Intervention Switching between teaching strategies by labeling pictures of nouns in Spanish and teaching the student to pick the picture after hearing the Spanish word. Procedure - a. Baseline - Collecting data under typical classroom routines without any proposed interventions in place interventions to establish baseline. Conducting this baseline during at least 5 sessions to ensure its validity. b. independent variable/intervention – The teacher will show pictures of nouns in Spanish and encourage the students to repeat. In the second strategy, the teacher will say a noun in Spanish and ask the students to pick out the picture from several options and wait to see if they pick the corrct response. For correct answers - Positive reinforcements such as verbal praise or a
tangible such as a toy or snack. For incorrect answers - Corrective feedback provided immediately, opportunity to try again and reteach as needed. Functional Relation/Experimental Control - Functional relation will be established through the alternating treatment design. By switching between the two teaching strategies and holding other variables constant, any and all observed changes in the dependent variable can be attributed to the teaching strategy. This type of design allows for comparison of the effectiveness of the two teaching strategies while decreasing all potential variables.
