Chemistry 30: Module 6: Lesson 6 Lab 2 Assignment Booklet 1. Identify a reaction type that could be used to produce each molecule. 5 marks Answer: Molecule 1: Elimination Molecule 2: Substitution Molecule 3: Addition Molecule 4: Combustion Molecule 5: Esterification 2. Write the balanced chemical equation for the production of each molecule using the reaction type identified in question 1. 2 marks for each (10 marks) Answer: Molecule 1 - C2H2 + 2H2O =C2H6O2 Molecule 2 - 2C + 2F2= C2F4 Molecule 3 - 6 C + 6H2 -->C6H12 Molecule 4 - CH3COOH(CH2)2CH3 Molecule 5 - C + O2 =CO2 3. Write the name of the reactants and products developed in your answer to question 2. (10 marks) Answer: Molecule 1 – ethyne + water = ethane-1,2diol Molecule 2 – Carbon + Fluorine = tertrafluorethylene Molecule 3 – Carbon + Hydrogen = 2-methyl-1-pentane Molecule 4 – propyl ethanoate Molecule 5 – Carbon + Oxygen = Carbon dioxide Submit your completed Module 6 Lesson 6 Lab in the Drop box of your course.
