TRIPLE BOTTOM LINE INDUSTRY COMPARISON 2 The Triple Bottom Line (TBL) is defined as the idea that businesses should commit to giving as much attention to social and environmental issues as they do to the earnings. According to the textbook People, planet, and profit (2020) John Elkington “coined the phrase “triple bottom line” (TBL) as a memorable way of encouraging business leaders to pay more attention to the impact of their operations on people and the planet” (Soomo, 2020). This is an objective that both service and manufacturing industry uses. They both implement this method when evaluating their TBL by applying the B impact assessments. This helps them monitor and manage the industry’s impact on its consumers, employees, and the community. Therefore, they are able to make the necessary changes to help assist their employees and society. While reviewing the manufacturing and serving industries we can see that they do have differences. The manufacturing industries performs the best when it comes to employees and management, because they focus on managing their team to bring out better outcomes. The service industries achieve the best results when it comes to community and environment. Because the manufacturing industry does not have a focused interaction with consumers like the service industry does. It is the expected standard for the service industry to perform well when it comes to the community because their interacting with consumers daily. The service businesses are not exposed to the same environmental regulations as manufacturer businesses because they probably spend less money and time communicating about environmental issues. The efficient strategy that could be effective for both industries is to use less waste. The method to use is a zero-waste campaign which help to advance and innovate both industries. The improvement would be exceptional because it would increase the recycling and lower the amount of waste sent to the landfills. It would also mean that both industries would be using

This would most importantly mean that it’s providing worthwhile wages and an environmentally friendly workplace for its employees.
