1-2 Journal 2 For many years, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (MSIL), a Suzuki subsidiary dominated the Indian car sales market. With competitors slowing starting to emerge and take away market share such as: Tata, Hyundai, GM and Honda, they were starting to face decline. The A-Segment hatch back has been their main market share. Companies were starting to offer new competition, which there were not used to. This continued drop posed at risk at whether the company could maintain its stronghold on the Indian car market (Mukherjee, 2015). These new premium A-Segment where offering features such as air conditioning, and new more once considered luxurious features differentiating their place in the market. For MSIL to fight back and maintain their market share they had to take these issues competitors where offering by focusing on affordability, comfort, features and overall attractiveness of the vehicle. First time buyers were not able to finance the same way that seasoned owners of cars could leverage but by offering new specials or rebates could help make the difference when it comes to buying that first time car. Also, keeping up with technology advances is another attractive way to entice first time buyers to consider their vehicles. One possible solution to make MSIL more attractive to first time buyers is to rebrand by what was once considered premium options on their older versions as the new standard for base models. By taking this approach customers feel that they are getting more value for their money and more interested in considering their car for the first time, instead of being lured away by the competition.
