Kline 1 Life is in the Blood Assignment 1. Explain how life is in the blood by using at least 5 biological key terms such as plasma, platelets, erythrocytes, and leukocytes as well as the composition of blood from figure 10.9 of your text. The blood's ability to support life is due to the intricate interactions between a variety of biological components. The following words are important to keep in mind when elaborating on this: 1. Blood composition: Based on Figure 10.9 in my text, blood is composed of fewer than 1% leukocytes and platelets and around 55% plasma and 45% erythrocytes. 2 Little disc-shaped cells called platelets aid in blood coagulation. When a blood vessel is damaged, platelets help to create a clot that prevents excessive bleeding. 3. White blood cells called leukocytes are a component of the immune system. They support the body's defensive mechanisms against illness and infection. 4. Red blood cells, or erythrocytes, are responsible for carrying oxygen throughout the body. Among these is hemoglobin, a protein that attaches itself to oxygen and carries it into cells. 5. Blood's liquid component, plasma, carries several vital components, including minerals, electrolytes, and hormones. Carbon dioxide and other waste products are also transported by it.
Kline 2 2. Also explain how blood has been made an atonement for the soul according to Leviticus 17:11. Use 3 Scriptures to support your explanation. "For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one's life," according to this verse. The use of blood for atonement in the Old Testament is a complicated subject with many nuances, but the following are some important things to keep in mind that blood was seen as a representation of life. The Israelites held that a creature's life was contained in its blood and that they were giving God the creature's life by offering the blood on the altar. In summary, the Old Testament's use of blood was a complex and symbolic custom intended to help people seek forgiveness and purity from God. It was a premonition of the last offering made by Jesus, whose blood is seen as a way of atonement for all individuals whom believe in Him.
