(3 points) Convey your results and data relevant to the goals of the experiment by filling out the following graph and preparing an additional alternate figure (bar graph, line graph etc.) to further depict the results of your experiment. Include titles for all tables and figures. Table 1. Predicted and actual vital sign responses to 5 minutes of moderate intensity exercise. Vital Sign Resting Results Predicted Exercise Results Actual Exercise Results Pulse (beats per minute) 84 BPM Increased 141 BPM Respiration (breaths per minute) 20 Breaths per minute Increased 28 Breaths per minute O2 Saturation (%) 97% Stay the same 97% 2. (2 points) Define homeostasis and explain how an increase in heart rate and respiratory rate serve to defend the homeostasis of SpO2. Homeostasis is the body’s natural tendency to preserve a constant internal environment among constantly changing exterior conditions. A large amount of carbon dioxide and some of the extra water are also expelled by your faster breathing and heart rate. 3. (1 point) After reading the assigned research article: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7264390/ , describe the effects of exercise on self- reported anxiety and self-reported depression. Do not plagiarize and be sure to include appropriate citation. Standardized self-report measures of depression, anxiety, positive and negative affect, perceived stress and coping mechanisms, body dissatisfaction, and quality of life were used to evaluate mental health and well-being. The effects of aerobic exercise were contrasted with a condition that involved cognitive non-activity. “Regular physical activity was negatively correlated with self-reported depression, anxiety, and perceived psychosomatic stress and positively correlated with quality of life and positive affect”, this mean to me that regular day to day physical activity isn’t recognized nor does it connect to the quality of life and what comes with it.
Niya Penick Lab HSC 215 4. (1 point) Describe your current exercise routine. Do you think exercise should be added as a vital sign that clinician routinely measure? Why or why not? Yes, I honestly do think this will be a stronger and more efficient way to measure people’s vitals and receive their health. Patient care would undoubtedly improve with routine measurement. 5. (2 points) Case Study: At age 45, Karen embarks on an exercise program. She has previously been sedentary. Her new exercise regimen is as follows: On MWF Karen walks for 55 minutes while complaining to a friend about the younger generation. Does Karen’s new exercise routine meet the guidelines for exercise? If not, what should she do differently ? In my opinion, this is a great exercise for Karen. It’s keeping her active and moving on a daily. She’s also being active while doing something she enjoys but also working on her own health. She could also walk and move her arms while walking to give herself a more push. 6. (1 point) Don’t forget to include correct and complete citations.
