In Amy Fuller’s article “The Evolving Legend of La Llorona”, she starts off by providing
the readers with the background of La Llorona and the roots of La Llorona. Fuller informs us about the different depictions of La Llorona based on cultural differences and how they impacted
the change in narrative of La Llorona. Fuller does a great job at the application of background information and context in the article to help us understand how La Llarona derived and how societal and cultural impacts shaped the evolution of the myth. Fuller also provides examples of each cultural myth on La Llorona and how they came about.
In comparison, the myth of bigfoot depicts the myth of La Llorona. The story of bigfoot has changes over generations and people of different cultures, each have different ways of depicting the “monster”. The stories of mythological creatures would never be the same across different cultures or time periods due to the different societal structures or cultural upbringings.
