2 Module 3 Short Answer I chose two of Henry Ford's cultural works: the Henry Kaiser Traveler and the 1914 Ford Model T Touring Car. Both of these caught my attention immediately due to how beautiful they were. I have always been a fan of older cars, so these two caught my attention. The Henry Kaiser Traveler was my first choice because my son Ezra saw it and it reminded him of the car named Doc Hudson from the movie "cars". In addition, Joseph Frazer and Henry Kaiser formed a new car company in 1945 after they became famous for their work on ships during the Second World War. Although their cars were well-built, they were not able to compete against established car companies. Production of the American Kaiser ceased in 1955. Cars were made in Argentina from 1958 to 1962. The 1914 Model T was my other choice because it was the year Henry Ford could get his assembly line working successfully. During this period, Ford introduced a profit-sharing plan for its workers. The Ford Model T Touring Car was given to John Burroughs by Henry Ford. The simple yet elegant look of the 1914 Model T Touring Car reflected the period when cars were still made. This was also the year that Ford was able to achieve a significant milestone. According to McCormack 1, Ford Motor Company celebrated a momentous year in 1914. For my cultural work, I would like to ask a question about the car industry’s future on how they plan to stay competitive with new smart electric vehicle companies like Tesla. To answer this question, I would first study the past generations of when vehicles took the next modern step and how companies overcame those hurdles by staying competitive. I would then analyze how it changed how people viewed cars.
