I have just seen the Franchonetti Sisters dancing their so called “Energetic Dancing”. I cannot fathom that they call this behavior dancing! They are making an absolute mockery of themselves and dance as a whole. This type of “dance” is unheard of. When I picture dance, it is not all of this foolish moving around and kicking. I think of something more like a Quadrille. A dance where a group of people appear to be organized and have strict movements they need to follow, rather than just loose, random, and not in sync dancing. I mean, it seems that this has had no choreography. These sisters lack any sort of formality. The dresses that they are wearing show everything below their knees. Compared to the traditional quadrille this is unbelievable! This type of dancing and the clothing they are wearing makes them seem like they do not have any sense of class or modesty. Despite all of the negatives of their dance, it was quite interesting to see the other side of the dance world. While I did not like the dance or the dancers themselves, it was interesting to witness a performance like no other. I do have to give my props for their flexibility and ability to move their bodies around. It allows me to have a deeper appreciation for dance that isn’t like the traditional, and I do have some respect for them for trying something new. I do not hope that dance changes or moves in this direction, however, I do see this being possible. In other aspects of the world, there are people starting to create change in society. Dance culture does play a significant role in our society, especially when it comes to formalities and class, however this may soon change or have a new light brought upon us if this is the type of dance that becomes acceptable. While I was not a fan of this new dancing, I do believe that it could have the power and influence to make a great change.
