Report
October 28, 2023 Between now and week 12, you will observe in an outdoor setting 10 minutes a day for 15 days or 15 minutes a day for 10 days for a total of 150 minutes. At least half of the entries need to be at a place where children are present (such as a playground). Keep a journal and write down your impressions and answers to the following: The date On Sunday, October 22, 2023 The location - near where children are present? I went to Porter Playing Ground Park in Rexburg Idaho Time of day and approximate temperature It was at 1:30 pm and the weather was 70 degrees and sunny. What do you feel, think, hear, and smell? I felt relaxed as there was some breeze. I could hear kids screaming and the sound of trees hitting each other. I could hear kids running around the slides calling each other’s names “Chase me” or “Can you play with me”. I could smell a light pine tree smell which reminded me of Christmas. What do you observe? I observed that some kids were playing independently by themselves while their mothers were talking. But some of the kids would pull and ask their moms if they could play with them. What are the children doing? Are they enjoying themselves, or not? Why? The children were swinging on the swings. Some were running up and down jumping on the playing equipment. Some kids were sliding on the slides back and forth with their friends. Some kids were just sitting on the playground watching other children play and would sometimes laugh. How did they feel when it was time to leave? Do they want to leave? Do they want to stay? I was there for 17 minutes so by that time the children were still at the park playing. I would assume that when it was time to leave some kids might have been okay leaving and others might not and just wanted to play more. What do you feel when it is time to leave? I feel that all children are different. Some kids may want to live because they feel that they have had enough playtime. Some may want to stay to play along with their friends or parents or some might just leave because their parents said so.
