So from the looks of it “The Container” by Clare Bayley seems to be a tragedy and for something to be considered a tragedy it must be a drama that revolves around human suffering basically tragic events that happens to the protagonist so because of that given definition “The Container” meets all those requirements because of the secrecy and the six refugees who did not trust one another in slightest bit now while the film was going on they introduce us to the six and how they come from different backgrounds and they were smuggled across Europe in containers which is the point of view and it pictures some of the issues that the immigrants faced in the real world as the Exposition is about the refugees who were illegally stowed away in crates hoping to make a better life for themselves, Jemal seems to stand out the most in the story. He is the protagonist of the group, and it's not surprising that he is the leader of the group. When anyone came to the door, he was always the one standing there to listen to them and to have a conversation with them. It seemed that the antagonist was more of the head that was taking the money to get them to Europe as of, so he seemed to only want their money and to stop them from leaving if they would not pay up. The climax occurs when the agent demands fifty dollars and one of the passengers is ejected since she is unable to pay. The plot became more exciting at this point, and the audience began to wonder if the other characters would make it to their objective. Seeing this play is an important experience for the audience since it gives them a glimpse into what it was like to be an immigrant. I think those who had survived the play had crossed the border by the time the curtain came down. According to this definition, "The Container" by Clare Bayley appears to be a tragedy because it revolves around human suffering, essentially tragic events that happen to the protagonist. Because of the secrecy and the fact there six refugees, who do not even remotely trust one another, "The Container" meets all of these requirements. As the Exposition is about the refugees who were illegally stowed away in crates hoping to make a better life for themselves, Jemal seems to stand out the most in the story. They introduce us to the six and how they come from different backgrounds and how they were smuggled across Europe in containers, which is the point of view and it pictures some of the issues that the immigrants faced in the real world. It makes sense that he would be the group's leader because he is the protagonist. He was always the one waiting at the door to talk to and listen to anyone who knocked on the door. The antagonist appeared to be more of the person who was paying for their travel to Europe up until that point; as a result, he appeared to solely want their money and threatened to prevent them from departing if they did not cough it up. The turning point occurs when the agent demands $50 and one of the passengers is ejected since she is unable to pay. The plot became more exciting at this point, and the audience began to wonder if the other characters would make it to their objective. The audience's experience of seeing this play is significant because it provides them with a window into what it was like to be an immigrant. By the time the play's curtain fell, I believe those who had survived had crossed the border. Your play critique is excellent I found it the identify the play genre as a tragedy as well even though it had characteristics of all the genres so with that being said many of them fit this play. I had exactly the same idea that the truck driver must be the anatomist. Instead of assuming what he is like, I wish they had used him a bit more to offer a more complete picture of his personality. The fact that Jemel seemed to shine out more than the other characters was something I also noticed. You did a terrific job of stressing the key terms and providing excellent answers to all of the questions. Great job!
