Introduction This PowerPoint will go into the details of the Etruscan era and its impact on art. It will also give examples of how the Etruscan civilization buried their dead. Lastly, it will talk about the Tomb of Leopards and the two important tombs during this time.
Etruscan Era and its Impact on Art The Etruscans were an ancient Italic culture by about 700 B.C. Their culture developed from a prehistoric civilization known as Villanovan (ca. 900–500 B.C.). They occupied the central region of Italy between the Arno and Tiber rivers, and eventually settled as far north as the Po River valley and as far south as Campania.

Impacts Strongly influenced by their influences with Greek. They believed in the after life and this is what made for there to be a lot of Etruscan painters and sculptors. These painters and sculptors bought about the Tomb of Leopards c.480 BCE and Sarcophagus dei Sposi c.550BCE. Used to celebrate the passage of the afterlife.
ART Created sculptures made from stone and terracotta. Popular pieces Apollo of Velo Chariot Chimera of Arezzo Art was everyday life for the Etruscans that were rich. The Etruscans were also known for their goldsmithing and were highly prized in Italy for it.
How the Dead was Buried The Etruscans buried the dead away from the living and from the outside city walls in cemeteries. The dead was buried underground and there were jewels and art pieces along with sculptures used in the underground tombs when they were buried.

Tomb of Leopards Dates back to 473 BC It is the main tomb of the Monterozzi Necropolis in Tarquinia. Named after two leopards that face each other This tomb consist of a single chamber and has a double sloped ceiling. It has its name from the two leopards in the position on the gable. There is a banquet on the back wall that shows three couples lying on three klinau and between them is naked servants bringing drinks to the guest.
