Concept explainers
To find: the situation for which B’s pay linear function of the number of hours he works.
Answer to Problem 27PPS
The first situation represents the linear function.
Explanation of Solution
Given information:
B’s does yard work to earn extra money. Mrs. R’s pays him $10 per hour. Mrs. B’s pays him $100 per weekend.
Calculation:
Ben worked for Mrs. R’s and pays to ben $10 per hour.
Ben worked for Mrs.B’s and pays him $100 per week.
Mrs. R’s pays him per hour. So when Ben work for more number of hours the pay he gets is more. The pay increases with number of hours.
Benson pays him $100 per week and there is no increase in the amount for this situation.
Ben’s pay by Mrs. R’s is a linear equation. As the number of hours increases his pay increases by $10.
The first situation represents the linear function.
